Humanism considers the learner as a whole person with emotions that impact learning. Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs and Carl Rogers' learner-centered approach also influenced curriculum.

This chapter discusses how the brain learns to associate sexual arousal and reward with certain stimuli through experiences and repetition during youth and adulthood. This leads to the formation of neural pathways that label certain people, acts, or objects as sexually arousing. While evolution plays a role, much of what people find attractive is acquired and learned rather than innate. Repeated viewing of pornography trains the brain to see it as arousing and rewarding due to the potent neurochemical cocktail released during masturbation and orgasm. This strengthens the attachment and addiction to porn.
This chapter discusses how the brain learns to associate sexual arousal and pleasure with certain stimuli through repeated experiences that create strong neural pathways. Viewing pornography is highly rewarding for the brain due to the potent neurochemical cocktail released during masturbation and orgasm. This conditions the brain to repeat the behavior and develop an attachment to pornography. The combination of arousal, novelty, secrecy, and reward strengthens these neural pathways and makes pornography use hard to break. Understanding these neurological factors helps explain why pornography habits can be difficult to change.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps clients change their irrational and self-defeating beliefs. It is based on the theory that people's emotional and behavioral problems are caused by their irrational beliefs, not external events. The ABC model is used to identify Activating events, irrational Beliefs, and the Consequences of those beliefs. Therapists help clients dispute their irrational beliefs and replace them with more rational and adaptive beliefs using techniques like the DE method of Disputing and developing new Effective responses. The goal of REBT is to help people accept themselves and others unconditionally in order to reduce emotional distress and improve well-being.

Pornography addiction progresses through 5 stages: 1) Early exposure during teen years or childhood abuse sets the stage. 2) Regular viewing becomes integral to life. 3) More graphic/intense porn is sought as the initial images lose their effect. 4) Even severely graphic porn no longer provides excitement. 5) Some act out porn scenes through public nudity or masturbation. Counseling can help understand the addiction and replace thought processes to overcome pornography addiction.
Premature ejaculation is caused by minimal sexual stimulus and prevents both partners from being sexually satisfied. It is a very common problem, affecting about 1 in 3 men. The main symptom is inability to delay ejaculation for more than a minute after penetration. Premature ejaculation can have psychological causes like abuse, self-image issues, or depression, or biological causes like prostate infections or abnormal brain chemistry. It can negatively impact relationships and cause anxiety, low self-esteem, and frustration for the man experiencing it. Treatment options include local anesthetics, psychological therapy, masturbating before sex, or stopping stimulation when close to ejaculating.
