A chapter analyzes the differences between a systematic mode of literary critique (SMOLC) and an arbitrary mode of literary critique (AMOLC). SMOLC involves a structured approach that establishes an introductory foundation, considers compositional, appraising, linguistic, form-based, and content-based dimensions, and has theoretical, methodological, and evaluative underpinnings. In contrast, AMOLC lacks this systematic structure and analysis.
