First, you know that the Lord is the
richest and most powerful one in the
entire universe. The entire world and
all that it contains is His, and He can
do anything.
Psalm 50:12 (NIV) For the world is
mine, and all that is in it.
Second, you know that the Lord has
promised over and over to give you
whatever you ask for.
Mark 11:24 (NIV) Whatever you
ask for in prayer, believe that
you have received it, and it
will be yours.
How It’s Done!
You can pray with confidence because you have all the promises in God’s Word
to stand on and claim for your needs. Praying with confidence is knowing that
you’ll get exactly what you ask for. That's faith.
Matthew 7:7 (NKJV) Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will
find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
And because you have the faith that you’re going to get exactly what you
ask for, you make your request exact and complete. You don’t leave
anything out of your request.
It’s a simple formula:
Think about what that means. He will do anything
you ask for. Of course, it must be within His
will. But if your request is within His will, then
it’s a piece of cake for the Lord to give it to
you, or to do whatever you’re asking of Him.
I’m standing
on Your
promises!
1 John 5:14–15 (NIV) This is
the confidence we have in
approaching God: that if
we ask anything according
to his will, he hears us.
And if we know that he
hears us—whatever we ask—
we know that we have what
we asked of him.
Third, because you know the
Lord’s power and supply is
unlimited, you’re not shy in
making your requests.
You know that the Lord is capable and all-powerful, so you go the whole
nine yards. You get into the details, the specifics. You don’t just want a
cake. You want it with icing, cherries, and all the trimmings, including some
ice cream on the side.
You’re bold in making your request! You remind the Lord of His promises,
and you let Him know that you expect Him to make good on them. You have
such confidence in the Lord’s power and the results of your prayers that
you don’t question or wonder about other possibilities. Faith expects. And
expectant faith is rewarded with miracles.
Matthew 9:29 (NIV) According to your faith will it be done to you.
Hebrews 4:16 (ASV) Let
us therefore draw near
with boldness unto the
throne of grace, that
we may receive mercy,
and may find grace to
help us in time of need.
