Question 2 of my evaluation- How does your media product represent particular social groups? This powerpoint entails the analysis of social groups featured in my opening sequence.

2. DOMINANT REPRESENTATION
• The immediate dominant representation of a white male in his mid 20’s has connotations of:

3. REPRESENTATION OF WHITE
MALES-UNCOVERED
In my opening sequence it does not feature the dominant representation of white males, instead I have given a
alternative representation of white males.
The main protagonist in Uncovered has been represented as a geek and slightly introvert. He also looks
suspicious and statistics show that young white males are likely to commit more crimes in terms of serial
offences.
In addition to this the main protagonist is portrayed as family orientated, with a wife and two kids one of which he
buries in the hole that he is digging; although they do not feature in the opening sequence. This shows that the
representation of white males are that they are married and traditionally in a nuclear family.
Also the location is a leafy suburbs where the male is digging the hole represents white males as living in rural
areas with acres of land.

Uncovered can be compared to the 2002 Crime film Catch Me If You Can starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Tom
Hanks who adopts several personalities in order to catch check forgers.
