Somerset was forced to bring back troops from Scotland leaving a vulnerable border. There was no attempt to march on London. The government was always in control of its forces and was never in danger. There was a noticeable and significant lack of aristocratic and gentry leadership The local gentry particularly in Norfolk failed to deal with the uprisings. The government who normally raised troops from the local area were forced to raise troops from other counties or foreign mercenaries Some regional uniting of forces but there was no attempt at cross-regional co-operation.
