Series jesus - part 5 - a pattern for living - 03-22-15 - outlineLifePointe Church
This is Part 5 of Pastor Chuck Bernal’s message series, “JESUS – WHO HE IS – WHAT HE DID – WHY HE CAME”. This fifth message is titled, “Jesus: A Pattern For Living” and focuses on the importance of following Christ’s example in living our lives. The message discusses four character qualities found in the life of Jesus that each of us should emulate.
The document uses the metaphor of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly to illustrate the Bible verse about being made into a new creation through faith in Christ. It describes how a caterpillar spins a cocoon and emerges as a beautiful butterfly, just as those who invite Jesus into their hearts are transformed from their old selves into new creations through God's miraculous power. The key message is that accepting Christ makes one into a renewed person just as a caterpillar is reborn as a butterfly.
James: Faith that Works: Faith without WorksStephen Palm
This sermon on James 2:14-26 deals with James' view of the cooperative role of faith and works. We will see that although Paul and James seem to be theologically at odds, that they are using the term "justification" differently. They both believe that we are saved by faith alone, but James wants us to see that a faith that never manifests itself in good works is dead faith, and not really faith at all.
Jesus did not call us to live longer, feel happier, and look better, but to, "Deny your self, take up your cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). http://wp.me/po4gZ-1vW
1) Jesus' words "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me" from John 14:1 represent the antidote for a troubled heart.
2) Trusting in God involves having absolute faith, assurance, and God-given peace during difficult times when our world seems to be crumbling. It stems from a clear sense of identity as a Child of God and a strong relationship with God.
3) Both active elements like prayer and passive elements like accepting God's will during times of trouble are important parts of trusting in God. Christians must remember that prayer is an act of trust in God, and we must learn to surrender our will as another act of trust.
This document provides a summary of Matthew 11:28-30 about finding rest in Christ. It examines the context of the passage and what it means to take Christ's yoke. Key points include: 1) Jesus offers rest because he is one with God; 2) To find rest, we must feel the need for it and bring our burdens to Jesus; 3) Christ's yoke makes burdens easier to carry as we submit to his will. The yoke represents submitting to God's law of liberty rather than heavy burdens of works or slavery. With Christ's strength, his yoke is light.

The document outlines five commitments that define a Christian: 1) denying oneself and taking up one's cross daily to follow Jesus, 2) passionately pursuing God in all of life, 3) joyfully submitting to and obeying all of God's directives, recognizing him as Lord, 4) deliberately building accountable relationships with other followers of Jesus, and 5) being slaves of Jesus Christ who were bought with a price so as not to become slaves of men.

Jesus' death has significant meaning for humanity. While often discussed topics focus on education, economics, and sex, Jesus' death addresses our souls and has consequences for both Christians and humanity. Jesus' death was mysterious but fulfilled God's will to sacrifice his son to save humanity, as people were lost in sin and deserved death according to God's justice. Jesus took the place of the guilty so we could be innocent through his blood if we have faith. Jesus also died to save the world by fulfilling God's law, though he asked if possible to avoid his cup of suffering. Through Jesus' death and resurrection, we receive benefits like forgiveness of sins and eternal life with God through faith in his promises.

Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant Lord, make me like you
For you are a servant, make me one, too.
Make me a servant, do what you must do
To make me a servant, make me like you.
To love my brother, to serve like you do.
I humble my spirit, I bow before yo.
And through my service, I'll be just like you.
So make me a servant, make me like you.
Open my hands Lord and teach me to share
Open my heart Lord and teach me to care,
For service to others is service to you.
Make me a servant, make me like you.
God journeys with His people constantly with love, mercy and providence. Jesus' words from the Gospel will not pass away. God fulfills all promises and prophecies in His time. We have the same Creator God, Savior Son and Advocate Spirit from the beginning as the one Triune God. There is no time or situation where God is not with us. We should pray, have faith and accept God's graces, no matter our circumstances. God always journeys with us.

There are two kinds of builders - wise builders and foolish builders. The wise build their house on solid rock by reading scripture daily, meditating on God's word, and applying it to their lives. They build a foundation that can withstand storms like temptation, loss, prosperity, or the final judgment. The foolish builders rush through scripture without applying it; their house is built on sand and will collapse when storms come. We must build our spiritual house carefully according to God's word to withstand life's tests.
This document discusses the Christian perspective on work. It begins by establishing that work existed prior to sin and should be done to God's glory. It then addresses what work is, how to do work excellently and according to our abilities, integrating faith into our work, and the importance of responsible work-life balance. Throughout, it emphasizes that work is a gift from God meant to be done for Him.
The document contains a collection of Bible verses and passages focused on themes of faith, love, righteousness, and living according to God's will. The verses encourage living righteously, loving others, turning away from sin, and finding strength and purpose through faith even in difficult times. They are presented as words of inspiration and guidance for living as a person of faith.
1) The document discusses the song "Morning Has Broken" and its lyrics praising God's recreation of each new day.
2) It argues that the lyrics refer to both the first morning of creation and the morning we are saved by God, giving us a new beginning.
3) The document emphasizes that as Christians with a new life through Jesus, we should praise God daily for His blessings and fulfill our debt to love one another.
This message is Part 1 of the series “The Miracle Of Mercy” by Pastor Chuck Bernal. In this message Pastor Chuck defines the Biblical concept of mercy and how mercy describes the character of God more than anything else. He then shares the 3 reasons why we all need mercy and how we can receive it. The message was delivered at LifePointe Church on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
The document discusses the themes of Creation, Redemption, and Sanctification as revealed in the Sabbath. It explains that the Sabbath points to God as our Creator and Redeemer from slavery in Egypt. It also notes that the Sabbath represents our sanctification process of growing in holiness. Worship on the Sabbath should celebrate God's creation of the world, salvation of humanity from sin, and sanctifying work within believers.
The Bible is comprised of 66 books written by over 40 authors over thousands of years. It is divinely inspired, with God using the authors' personalities to communicate His exact message through their writing. While some parts were directly dictated, prophecy in particular came through the Holy Spirit moving the authors. The Bible is completely reliable, with every prophecy and promise ensured, and it is not to be altered in any way. Studying Scripture equips us for God's work and builds our lives on an eternal foundation.

The Bible is completely reliable, with every prophecy and promise ensured, and it is not to be altered in any way. The document discusses the importance of meaningful work. It provides three reasons why we must deal with this topic: 1) We were created by God to find joy in creative and productive work, as God did in creating the world. 2) Through redemption in Jesus Christ, we were created for good works. 3) We will continue in meaningful work for all eternity. The document also gives three tips for working with all our heart: 1) Give our full self to our work. 2) Set our life to a rhythm. 3) Take great risks and do hard things.
The document provides an overview of the Holy Spirit from the perspective of Chris Reeves for the Memorial Bvd. church of Christ. It discusses why the Holy Spirit should be studied as he is often neglected in preaching, prayer, and understanding. The Holy Spirit is described as a real, spirit, personal, and divine being who is the third member of the Godhead along with God and Jesus Christ. The document also discusses how the Holy Spirit revealed Scripture and was involved with Jesus' life, ministry, death, and resurrection. It addresses the baptism of the Holy Spirit as being administered by Jesus to his apostles and those he promised it to.
The document provides an overview of a 10-week foundation class course covering topics about the Christian faith. The schedule lists the dates, topics, and teachers for each class, including discussions on the new birth, the Godhead, the word, discipleship, prayer and fasting, and the second coming. The first class focuses on the new birth and being born again in Christ, contrasting mankind's state before and after accepting Christ.
This document is a church bulletin that provides information about upcoming church events, health updates on church members, daily Bible readings, and a summary of a sermon on low self-esteem. The sermon argues that low self-esteem is a tactic used by Satan to hold people back, but that God says believers can do all things through Christ. It encourages remembering that people's value and abilities come from being made in God's image, and that God knows what each person can and cannot do based on their talents.
This document discusses the importance of keeping the Sabbath and finding rest in God. It contrasts Chronos time, which is a burden, with Kairos time, which is a gift from God. By receiving each day as a gift from God and resting in Him, we can redeem Chronos into Kairos. The Sabbath helps anchor our days and prevent us from constantly fleeing from our troubles. Examples are given of Jews who kept the Sabbath even in hardship and of William Wilberforce, who was able to focus on abolishing slavery after a day of Sabbath rest.
1) Good works alone cannot save us or please God. Our righteous acts are like filthy rags compared to God's glory.
2) We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our own works. Jesus's death and resurrection allow us to be declared righteous.
3) When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and changes our nature, enabling us to do good works that glorify God. Our priorities and desires change as we grow in relationship with God.
Work is not a curse but something humans were given before sin. Christians should work wholeheartedly as unto the Lord, using their skills to honor God. While work can simply be a job, it can also be an opportunity to bless others. The Bible connects work to using one's hands and says God blesses diligent work. God expects excellence in work, as was shown in the construction of the Tabernacle. As new creatures in Christ, Christians should work with the fruit of the Spirit. Work must not become separated from one's relationship with God or an idol that interrupts time with family or spiritual life.
The document discusses the concept of having a "Sabbath heart" which is an attitude of restfulness and attentiveness to God's presence even during busy and turbulent times. It contrasts this with a state of constant "busyness" which can kill our hearts and lead us to place false trust in our own works. The Sabbath is presented from two perspectives - as reflecting God's completion of creation and rest on the seventh day, and as a reminder of God freeing the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. True Sabbath keeping and delight comes from ceasing self-effort and trusting in God as creator and deliverer.
Study 1 of "Bible Basics", a Bible study manual available as a free hard copy and also online from www.biblebasicsonline.com .
This study looks at God- His nature and character, His Name [is it Yahweh or Jehovah and does it matter], and also studies the Angels. Do we have guardian Angels, can angels sin etc.
God first revealed himself as a worker, bringing order from chaos in creation. Work was intended for humans as well, made in God's image to work as God works. Through the Fall, work became tedious. Christians can find meaning and dignity in work by imitating God and seeing it as participating in creation and redemption with Christ. Two examples are Saint Alphonsus Rodriguez, who served humbly as a doorkeeper for 45 years, and Father Emil Kapaun, who sacrificed his life helping prisoners in the Korean War. Both glorified God through their work.
This document discusses questions that people have about keeping the Sabbath and following God's law. It addresses questions around whether Jesus abolished the law, whether salvation is by faith or works, and whether certain passages suggest the law is no longer binding. The document provides biblical answers for each question, arguing that Jesus did not abolish the law but fulfilled it, that salvation has always been by grace through faith, and that the law remains binding for Christians under the new covenant.
This document discusses how the Holy Spirit transforms believers into the image and likeness of God through trials and difficulties. It asserts that:
1) The Holy Spirit empowers believers to view trials as blessings that help them mature and become complete through developing perseverance.
2) Both good and bad things can work for the good of those who love God, as the Holy Spirit transforms believers into Christ's likeness through difficult experiences.
3) Believers can overcome enemies of the mind like Satan through praying, thinking of Jesus and eternity, and enduring trials with God's sufficient grace.
The document discusses the work of Jesus, including that he never sinned and was the perfect representative of humanity. It argues that Jesus was not a substitute for humanity in death, but represented us so that God can forgive our sins. The Law of Moses, including the Sabbath requirement, ended with Jesus and is no longer binding. Salvation comes through faith in Christ, not by works or obedience to the Law. The New Covenant established through Jesus replaced the Old Covenant and Law of Moses.
Everyone is made for something by God. All of us have good works assigned to us by God (Eph. 2:10).
This message begins to explore how we know what we are made for by knowing our spiritual gifts.
The document discusses how God created humanity with a heart and desires that reach beyond the material world to thirst for union with others, as reflected in God's nature as a Trinity of persons in communion. It explores how the first humans' experience of being alone yet in God's image led to the creation of woman to be a fitting helper and companion for man, so that the two could become "one flesh" and satisfy the human heart's longing for interpersonal union. The document argues this divine plan establishes marriage as fundamental to human fulfillment and the path to satisfy our God-given desire for communion.
This document contains the summary of a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on Ephesians 2:1-10. The sermon was divided into three parts:
1) What we were - Lost sinners are spiritually dead, enslaved by the world and Satan.
2) What God did - God, in His mercy and love, saved us through Christ despite our sinful state. He gave us spiritual life, raised us to sit with Him.
3) What we are now - As God's workmanship created for good works, believers now live empowered to do the deeds prepared by God. Good works prove the genuineness of one's faith and bring God
SOM 01-01 Worldview 1
This class will examine the basic foundational beliefs of the evangelical Christian church, with a focus on God, Creation, Revelation, & Fall.
1) The document discusses the two-fold mission of the church - mission within the household of faith and mission to the world.
2) Mission within the household of faith involves knowing and loving God with one's heart, soul, strength and mind through prayer, devotion, and worship. It also involves serving and ministering within the church.
3) Mission to the world involves using one's gifts to serve God and neighbor, giving resources to help others, and demonstrating Christ's love outside the church. The mission aims to set all of God's creation free from decay and bring liberty.

Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Tales of This and Another Life - Chapters.pdfMashaL38
This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
3. “For we are His handiwork, created
in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us
to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
4. As we spend time in the Word of God, we
begin to learn that each one of us has been
made for a specific purpose. Each one of us is
a work of God! The Bible tells us that God is
the potter and we are the clay (Isaiah 64:8),
that we are engraved on the palms of his
hands (Isaiah 49:16), and that he has fashioned
each one of us individually (Psalm 33:15 NKJV).
6. But how about us???
In the same way we have been created
in Christ Jesus for individually unique
purposes. Each one of us needs to be
zealous in discovering the good works
that God has planned for us.
8. In what ways are you making yourself
available to God so that he can work through
you? If this is a new concept for you, or if you
haven’t experienced God using you to
accomplish his work, what steps can you take
to make yourself more available to him?
9. Related Verses:
“Jesus answered, ‘The work of God is this: to
believe in the one he has sent.’” John 6:29
“In him we were also chosen, having been
predestined according to the plan of him who
works out everything in conformity with the
purpose of his will,” Ephesians 1:11
10. Thank you for lending
your ears!
See you next time and
God bless you.
