The document analyzes and summarizes four horror movies - The Conjuring, Let the Right One In, 28 Days Later, and The Ward. Techniques used in each movie are discussed such as low key lighting, close up shots, and dark locations. Challenges of recreating elements from the movies for a main task are also considered, such as lack of costume and zombie extras. The Ward is identified as the easiest movie to replicate aspects of due to its psychological horror elements and requirements for only one main character.

2. Conjuring
The film ‘Conjuring’ portrays the demon side of horror, this is one of
my favourite horror movies that I have watched. It is based on a
real life story which makes it realistic and the demon shown is
genuinely scary looking.
From watching the film I learnt techniques such as: low key
lighting, non-diegetic sound, close up shot and dark/gloomy
locations. All of this is what makes the movie creepy to the
audience when watching.
For the main task I will be using few of the techniques such as low
key lighting which portrays tension due to mysterious and dark
atmosphere. However, conveying a demon character is hard to film
due to lack of costume resources and the location.

3. Let the Right One In
The film ‘Let the Right One In’ portrays vampire conventions, this is one
of the best movies that has a clear storyline about how the 12 year old
boy develops friendship with a vampire child.The film mainly focuses
on how the development of friendship between the two main cast.
Considering the storyline of the movie it was not as scary as I thought it
would be. Also, the antagonist was not as frightening in my opinion.
However, I further gained few ideas of using similar costume and
filming in low key lighting.
For the main task it would be quite hard to portray a vampire as we
need to be using fake blood and it may be cause chaotic so it is best to
use a different type of sub-genre.

4. 28 Days Later
The film ‘28 Days Later’ is a post-apocalyptic thriller film, the plots is about
the breakdown of society following accidental release of highly contagious
virus and focuses on the four survivors to cope with the destruction.The
film is credited with reinvigorating zombie genre of horror film.
From the movie I gained some ideas such as using high key lighting to
create tension to the audience. For example, when the zombies are
walking around they are shown in high key lighting.
However, for the main task it would be quite difficult to create a zombie
character due to lack of resources and the setting should be shot
somewhere creepy, which is difficult to find.Also, many extra characters
would be needed to shoot, as if we were filming a zombie chase.

5. TheWard
The film ‘TheWard’ is a psychological horror film that portrays about a
young woman who is institutionalized after setting fire to a house, who
is haunted by a ghost of a former inmate at the psychiatric ward.
I thought out of the four movies I analysed ‘TheWard’ seemed less
complicated to film, as the main character is shown weak and
vulnerable through the torturing of her own spilt personality, which can
be shown through high angle shot. During filming we can easily show
how the character thinks differently from shots that look like the past
and future.
The costume used by the character can be simple, ripped and dirty
clothing and location can easily be done if we find a dark room with just
one light.This would create tension to the audience whilst watching.
Also, can portray the possessed women through the appearance of how
she looks and how she is tortured by someone but not showing who.
