This document summarizes an analysis of risk perception and the Risk Priority Number (RPN) index used in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The study compared how individuals perceive risk from narrative descriptions versus the FMEA method. Results showed individuals did not always assess the same situation similarly depending on how it was presented. Experience level also impacted risk perception. Further research is recommended to improve risk analysis methods and account for cultural differences in risk perception.
This document discusses the development of a computer-based ordering system for restaurants. It aims to create a more convenient ordering process that lessens the workload of waiters. Currently, the Woodbridge Pizza Parlor uses a manual ordering system that is slow and prone to errors. The proposed system would allow customers to select their order from a touchscreen menu at their table. Their order would then be sent to the counter for processing. This is hoped to provide an easier customer experience compared to the current manual process.
The document describes a customer ordering system for a restaurant that aims to address problems with the current manual ordering process. It seeks to develop an online ordering and reservation system to allow customers to view menus and place orders online, which would streamline the ordering process for waiters and kitchen staff. The objectives are to develop online and mobile ordering interfaces, provide online menu information, increase sales and productivity, and analyze purchase history and pricing to increase profitability. The project will implement a system development lifecycle approach including planning, analysis, design, and implementation phases to design and build the new customer ordering system.
This chapter presents the analysis and results of a study of 200 psychology students at PUP. It includes tables on the demographic profile of respondents and effects of technological development on their socialization, self-esteem, and school performance. It also analyzes whether there is a correlation between technological developments of cellular phones and changes in respondents' behavior.
This study demonstrated a novel natural transformation mechanism in Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans (A.a.) that is independent of uptake signal sequences and the Tfox gene. The study showed that A.a. could be transformed with genomic and plasmid DNA present in microvesicles secreted into the growth medium of donor cells. This transformation occurred both in the presence and absence of components normally required for natural transformation in A.a. The results suggest outer membrane adhesion and fusion of donor microvesicles with recipient cells allows DNA delivery and homologous recombination. This novel mechanism could provide an easier method for genetically transforming A.a. compared to conventional techniques.

TV Everywhere
This is the fun part, where I get to predict the future based on what’s going on today, what I’ve learned
during years of working in the industry, and my thoughts on what it is that consumers want and don’t
want. It’s not an exact science by any means and every day something new happens to move my view of
the future in one direction or another. But I think the basics still hold. The first thing I see becoming a
reality is TV Everywhere (TVE), which is basically what you have now if you have Netflix: you can watch
your pay TV service on any device at any time. If you’ve paused a show on your iPad and want to resume
it on the TV, you can do that seamlessly. The technology is there to make this happen, save one crucial
part: the ability to measure ratings on various devices, which would allow the networks to keep the
same ad revenue. It’s something the industry has been waiting on for a while now, ever since it was first
announced that Nielsen was trying to make it happen back in February 2013. And while there have been
hints and updates that progress was being made— including an October 2014 announcement that
Nielsen was working with Adobe to make online ratings happen, nothing final has been released as of
March 2015. That’s why so many MVPDs are holding back on their current TVE offerings. A study
conducted by Digitalsmiths in early 2014 revealed that more than half of their respondents were
unaware that their provider even had a TVE app, although Comcast recently reported that 30% of their
customers are regular users of their Xfinity TV Go TVE app, which has 11 million downloads. There are
two possible options for TV Everywhere: a system where the MVPDs proprietary TV Everywhere apps
prevail, or one where the networks proprietary OTT apps do. I’m betting on the former, and here’s why.
A Built-In Audience of Millions.
Any new OTT service, whether it’s a skinny bundle like Sling TV or a network app like HBO Now, must
first build an audience from scratch. The MVPD’s however, already have a huge built-in audience for
their apps: the millions of people who are already paying for their service. All the MVPDs have to do is
convince them to download a free TVE app and start using it. There’s nothing to give up, nothing to
replace, and (most notably) nothing to pay for. That’s an incredibly strong selling point.
All Those Ad Dollars.
Thanks to this built-in potential audience of millions, selling ads on the operator TVE apps will be much
easier when compared to other OTT TV apps. As the networks start to see the ad revenue flow in, they’ll
become less resistant to the idea of striking deals to put their shows on the operator apps. They may
even go crazy and allow viewers to have access to their home DVR or VOD systems through these apps.
Stranger things have happened.

The document summarizes insights from user testing of the Roku digital media player and its bundled Netflix and Amazon Video services. Key findings include:
1. Users saw value in the Roku for convenient streaming but wanted an entirely TV-based experience without needing a computer.
2. Preferences for Netflix versus Amazon's pay models depended on viewing frequency, with frequent viewers preferring Netflix's flat fee.
3. The activation processes for both services required switching between the TV and computer, which users disliked, preferring an all-TV activation.
The document summarizes the Web Doctor's analysis of several trade-facing websites. Moores.co.uk receives top marks for having optimized search engine results and an immersive but usable design. Sinc Kitchens' left-hand filter panel on product browsing pages is praised for being thumb-friendly on mobile. Overall the analysis finds that most sites could improve mobile optimization and usability for professional trade customers.
The document discusses various types of television technologies. Digital TV provides better picture quality than analogue and includes HD and a wider variety of channels. It requires a broadband subscription. Analogue TV is the older format and is no longer available. Satellite/cable TV offers improved reception but requires a suitable location. Interactive TV allows viewers to access extra information or services by pressing buttons. On demand TV allows viewing missed programs online or through providers. Pay per view allows ordering events to view at scheduled times. Streaming avoids file downloads by allowing online viewing. HD has higher resolution than standard definition. 3D TV creates an illusion of depth using glasses. Smart TVs connect to broadband for streaming apps and extra content.
Digital menu boards have been discussed for a long time but costs have prevented widespread adoption. While hardware costs have decreased, outdoor displays for drive-thrus remain expensive. Restaurant chains also resist changes to established systems and procedures. However, most agree digital boards will eventually replace traditional boards. When chains make the initial change, they will see benefits from new technologies like QR codes, customer recognition, mobile ordering and payment, and holograms. These technologies are already developed and digital boards can enable their use. Forward-thinking companies that adopt new technologies will be more successful than those resisting change.

EVALUATING A COMPANY’S RESOURCES,
CAPABILITIES, AND COMPETITIVENESS
Please read these excerpts derived from the Netflix corporate Web site; then, fully respond to the questions that follow.
Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with over 53 million members in nearly 50 countries enjoying more than two billion hours of TV shows and movies per month, including original series, documentaries and feature films. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on nearly any Internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause, and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.
Netflix’s Long Term View:
Internet TV is replacing linear TV, Apps are replacing channels, and screens are proliferating.
As Internet TV grows from millions to billions, Netflix is leading the way around the world.
Linear TV is popular, but ripe for replacement.
People love TV content and still watch over a billion hours a day of linear TV.
But people don’t love the linear TV experience, where channels present programs at particular times on non-portable screens with complicated remote controls. Consumers have to navigate through a grid, or use DVRs which add an on-demand layer at the cost of storage and complexity. Finding good things to watch isn't easy or enjoyable. While hugely popular, the linear TV channel model is ripe for replacement.
The evolution to Internet TV apps has begun.
The world’s leading linear TV networks, such as HBO and ESPN, are moving into Internet TV. The ESPN app runs on many Internet platforms and is specifically designed to showcase sports, both real-time and catch up. HBO’s app makes its films and series more accessible than on HBO’s linear channel. The other major linear networks are not far behind.
Internet TV is better than linear TV in ways consumers care about. While Internet TV is only a small percentage of video viewing today, it will grow to replace linear TV because:
1. The Internet is getting faster, more reliable and more available;
2. Smart TV sales are increasing and eventually every TV will have Wi-Fi and apps;
3. Smart TV adapters are getting better and cheaper;
4. Tablet and smartphone viewing is increasing;
5. Internet TV apps get frequent improvement updates;
6. Streaming is the leading source for Ultra HD 4k video;
7. TV Everywhere provides an economic transition for existing networks; and
8. New entrants like Netflix are innovating rapidly and driving improvements.
Eventually, as linear TV is viewed less, the spectrum it now uses on cable, fiber, and over-the-air will be reallocated to expand Internet data transmission. Satellite TV subscribers will be fewer and more rural. The value of high-speed Internet will increase.
This transformation is occurring at different speeds in different nations. In the UK, for example, the BBC is already programming for its iPlayer app as well as its linear channels, .

Popcorn Time was an illegal streaming service that provided free access to movies and TV shows without permission from copyright holders. Its business model had no official revenue streams, but relied on donations, advertising, and selling user data. The service was shut down multiple times but continued operating by releasing the source code for others to recreate it. New technologies like virtual reality, flexible screens, and interactive content will change how audiences consume media in the future.
Advancements in viewing technology and increased competition for eyeballs have resulted in a more fragmented environment where consumers can watch TV from a wide array of devices and access content from countless sources. Led by certain segments of the population, most notably Millennials, consumers have quickly adapted to this new environment and are drastically changing their viewing patterns at an accelerating rate. In this report, we asked more than 1,000 Americans about their TV viewing behaviors to provide context for the shifts in their consumption habits and better understand viewing audiences.
