Homophobia

2. Homophobia its a way to be afraid, scared,
hate, or discriminate women and men who
recognize themselves as homosexual.
3. Research has shown that prejudice against gay
people and homosexuality can be influenced
by the person:
• Having strong religious beliefs that disapprove
of sex and/or homosexuality
• Having little/no social contact with lesbian and
gay people
• Reporting no homosexual experiences or
feelings
4. The International Day Against Homophobia, held on
May 17 every year, is an event offering an
opportunity for people to get together and reach
out to one another. Fondation Émergence
promotes, mainly on a pan-Canadian level,
the International Day Against Homophobia and
encourages organizations and individuals to
highlight this event in their environment.
5. “Boy” is a short film which tells the story about a
girl who did not want to be a girl anymore because
she is transgender.
Her mother did not accept this, like her mother´s
friend and her daughter. One day this girl decided
to cut her hair and dress like a boy to demonstrate
her way of thinking
6. This short film is about another world were
being “gay” is the normal way of being and
being straight its like being gay in this world.
A little girl, whose mothers were against
heterosexuality , fell in love with a boy. She
started to be bullied at school, because she had
different feelings. One day, when she admitted
that she was heterosexual, all the school
started to send her some horrible and painful
messages.
Finally, she locked herself in the bathroom, cut
her body while she was in the shower. Her
mothers found her dead body under the water.
Based on a real story.
7. A few days of knowing the sentence the aggressors of Daniel
Zamudio, a young man received a brutal aggression and is
confined with life threatening. The man was Wladimir
Sepulveda, a young man of 21 years old, that lives in San
Francisco de Montazal, on the region of O´Higgins. Six man
said “Pussy we are going to kill you” while he was walking
out of a party in Rancagua, said the president of the
Moving of Integration and Liberation Homosexual (Movilh),
Rolando Jimenez. Nowadays Wladimir encounters a
traumatic brain injury so he is with mechanical ventilation
in the Hospital of Rancagua. The Movilh and the family of
Wladimir are preparing a complain against who aggressed
him.
8. The 15 of February of 2011, Philip Butters the host
of a program in Radio Capital of Lima, Peru
offended the gay community when in an interview
with an activist of the Homosexual Movement on
Lima (HOML) said that he will beat the people of
the same sex who kiss in front of his home. “I said
you think, in the mornings I go to my daughter´s
home and if I see two lesbians or homosexual
kissing, I asked them to go away. When I said it the
third time I am already kicking them.” That were
the declarations of the sports journalist.
9. PHILADELPHIA:
is a film based on discrimination on homosexual
people. The story is about a man who had HIV
and he was fired from his job when his bosses
notice about his disease. He took the case to the
court with the only lawyer who accepted to help
him. With a lot of things against, the one which
had taken place in the situation was being gay.
This man with his lawyer won the case and at the
end of the film, he died being proud of his
sexuality.
