The homeroom guidance program is designed to equip K-12 students with life skills in three domains: academic development, personal and social development, and career development. It does this through comprehensive developmental and proactive counseling, which aims to help students manage issues that hinder their success. Counseling is voluntary and provided after a referral for problems like conduct issues, self-harm, poor social or academic performance, or signs of distress. Counselors must breach confidentiality if a student is suicidal or threatening harm.
