A Day in The Life of Chris and Jenna
The Morning Routine: Waking up
It’s morning, and Chrisand Jennaare awoken to the sound of their
alarm clock. It’s been a cold night, and neither of them are looking
forward to getting out of bed to start the day. As Chris and Jennaget up,
the house’s HomeAnimator system sees him, and turnson the heater,
the bathroom lights, and starts brewinga pot of coffee in the kitchen.
As Chris goes into the bathroom, the HomeAnimator turnson the
shower to the pre-selected temperatureChrislikes.
Off to the Kitchen
Meanwhile, Jennaheads to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. As she
enters the kitchen, she pointsto overhead lights and the Home
Animator turnsthem on. Asshe movesover to the coffee maker, the HA
brings up the newson the monitor in the kitchen. After Chris gets out of
the shower and heads outof the bathroom, the HA turnsoff the lights
for him. After getting dressed, he heads into the kitchen as wellfor a
little breakfast.
The Livingroom and Magic Curtains
Jennagoes out to the living room, and motionswith both armsnear the
curtains, as if partingthe Red Sea. As she doesso, the HA opensthe
curtainsso she can look outat the morningsunriseand view from their
home.
Getting Ready to Go – Home Animator in the Car
As Chris is finishing his coffee, he’s thinking about how cold it might be
outside. He checks his phoneand sees that indeed it’s as cold as he
thought. In the past, Chris wasnot looking forward to going out into the
cold and into a freezingcar. As he sets down his coffee mugby the sink,
the HA sees this, and signals to a smaller HA system in his car. The HA
system in his car gets the signal from the houseHA, starts up the car,
turnson the heated seats, and sets the interior to a comfy 75 degrees.
Chris gives Jennaa peck on the cheek, grabs his keys, briefcase, and
other work related stuff, and heads out into the cold.

2. As Chris nearshis car, the car HA sees him and opensthe door for him.
Chris smiles, as this is very convenientfor him and every time it feels
like magic.
As Jennafinishes up getting ready, the HA sees her as she heads over to
get her keysfrom a bowl. As her car is in the garage, it opensthe garage
door, and then prepsher car for her. Beingthat Chris droveher car the
day before (and never remembersto put the seat where she needs it, or
readjustthe mirrors), her car’s HA adjustsher seat and mirrorsto
exactly where she likes them. As she’s heading out, she grabs her purse,
messenger bag, and a stack of folders. The HA sees this, and opensthe
door to the garage for her usinga motorized yet inconspicuoushingein
the door. As she approaches the car, the car’s HA opensthe door for
her, while the home’s HA takes care of locking up the house via
automated wireless door locks.
Coming Home – Jenna
The day has come to a very longend for Jenna, and she’s had to stop and
get somegroceries as well. As she comes into the driveway of he home,
the house’s HA sees her car. Beingthat it could be any car, it doesn’t do
anything untilthe car’s HA lets the home know it’s her. Knowing
through passive learningthat she alwaysparksin the garage, the home
HA opensthe garage door and unlocksthe door to the house from the
garage. The house’s HA also turnson some lights in the houseas well
and sets the stereo system to what she likes to listen to. Asshe gets out
of the car, grabs everything, and heads towardsthe door, it magically
opensfor her. As she gets in the house, the door closes automatically
behind her as she’s greeted by the soundsof light jazz music.
Coming Home – Chris
It’s been a long day at the office for Chris, and as he arriveshome, the
house’s HA sees his car. Knowingit’s him by communicatingwith his
car’s HA, it knowshe alwaysenters the housefrom the frontdoor. As
Chris finishes getting his things out of the car and is clearly struggling
with the load, the last thing he needsto do is dig in his pocket for his
house keys. Thankfully, the house’s HA sees him as he’s approaching

3. the door, unlocksit and opensit just as he gets there. He goes in and the
door shuts behind him automatically.
After Dinner
Chris and Jennajust wantto relax for the eveningreadinga good book.
Both of them sit down in their favoritecomfy chairs, smile at each other,
and as they open their books, a reading lamp near each of them comes
on as if by magic, thanks to the HomeAnimator. A little while later,
Jennatells Chrisshe’s heading to bed, and shuts her book. As she does
so, her lamp turnsoff by itself. Chris tells her he’ll be in in a few
minutes, readsa little bit more, and closes his book. His lamp shuts off
by itself as well.
Bedtime
As Jennaheads to the bedroom, she stops in the livingroom to take one
last look out the window atthe city lights below. Chriswalks up and
putshis armsaround her from behind, gives a light kiss on the neck, and
looks outwith her. As he lets go and heads to the bedroom, Jenna
stretches her armsout wideand then brings them together as if closing
something big in mid-air. As she does so, the HA sees this and closes the
curtains, and Jenna heads off to bed for the night, pointing to a coupleof
lights in the room as she walksby, the lights shutting off as to say
“Goodnight!”
