Scărișoara Cave is one of the largest ice caves in Romania located in the Apuseni Mountains at an altitude of 1165 meters above sea level. The cave is 105 meters deep, 720 meters long, and contains a large chamber known as the Big Hall that is 108 meters long and 78 meters wide, as well as other areas like The Church that contains over 100 stalagmites. While only parts of the cave like the entrance shaft, Big Hall, and Church can be visited by tourists, the entire cave is a natural wonder and scientific resource for Romania.
