Role of social media in heritage tourismAmbuj Saxena
How can social media be used to preserve, celebrate, share and educate communities about Heritage sites in their vicinity. This presentation also enlists steps on how social media can increase the number of tourists visiting heritage sites thus resulting in increased Heritage tourists. This presentation is apt for those who think social media is useless when it comes to encouraging Heritage tourism.
A presentation given to Intro. to Museum Studies graduate students at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in October 2014, including two in-class activities.
Example of an integrated content strategist portfolio. With the marketplace changing and competition increasing, job seekers must figure out new and engaging ways to tell their story.

Concept: Don’t Believe The Hype, Just Create It
• I live in a generation obsessed with Tumblr, technology, and twerking. Therefore, I use my iPhone as
my source of information and imagery for my subject matter. By exploring diverse social media
platforms, particular iPhone functions, and the materiality of the iPhone itself, I intend to dissect my
hype-enabling generation. I find myself questioning the odd behavioral tendencies I have through social
media, the music I listen to, and the way I communicate via text, all of the time, perhaps this is because
I'm looking at my iPhone 50% of the day. I'm not preaching about our attachment to technology as much
as I'm trying to explore the reasons for why we do what we do. I aim to critique hype culture by placing
myself at the forefront and making myself vulnerable to my viewers. Through the exploration of media
and a key awareness of the self, I hope to create a body of work that reflects the transitory nature of the
present.
