Background of the study

There are approximately 2131 College of
fine arts students in University of Santo Tomas
(The varsitarian 2011). These students are not
only living to study arts and design, they also
have other things they are interested in. Young
students such as CFAD students needs to exert
their energy to something other than arts and
designing. The purpose of this study is to
determine the effects of their hobbies and
interests.
Significance of the study
The study about the defferent hobbies and
interests of CFAD students can be a learning
example to students who are confused of which
aspect should they focus, either studying or their
interest. It can help people who are not sure
about the field they took.
Objective of the study
 To attain full awareness of the activities usually
  done by a students

 Toknow if those hobbies and interests affect the
studies of industrial students in UST.
Hobbies - is an activity that is regularly
    undertaken for pleasure, typically during
    one's leisure time

Interest - a subject which one enjoys doing or
     studying.

Industrial Design – designing for mass
     production.
Methodologies

The focus of this study was primarily on what
are the hobbies and interests of CFAD Industrial
students of University of Santo Tomas. A
questionnaire will be developed aimed at
determining the effects of hobbies and extra
curricular activities on life-style, academic
productivity, management style and other factors.
Respondents will be classified by gender. We
applied the stratified sampling. In this technique, the
population is stratified into a number of
nonoverlapping subpopulations or strata and sample
items are selected from each stratum. The
questionnaire will be given to 40 respondents. 20 male
and 20 female. We are particularly interested in the
possible effects of hobbies ad interests of Industrial
design students on their development and
management of time to other activities. After we have
gathered the data we need, we will tabulate all of the
data gathered.
