This document provides background information on Christ Church United in Lowell, Massachusetts and its denomination, the United Church of Christ. It discusses how Christ Church United and the UCC have historically adjusted their mission and practices to meet the changing needs of their communities. The UCC was formed through mergers between Congregational and Reformed denominations in the 1950s in order to better serve people.
