This paper is aimed first at analyzing the initial public impact of Histoire Parallèle/Die Woche vor 50 Jahren, which aired weekly first on la Sept and then on French-German TV channel Arte from 1989 to 2001.
The 55-minute show exploited newsreel material, systematically presenting it in the original full length after exactly 50 years after its initial release in movie theatres. It covered a period stretching from the beginning of World War II until the end of the Marshall Plan. It simultaneously illustrated contradictive perspectives of several nations at war with each other. This part of the show lasted for 40 minutes. Then, for the final quarter of an hour, the show’s mainstay host, historian Marc Ferro discussed the material presented with a guest, usually a scholar. Despite the fact that the show could never be sold to foreign channels or rebroadcast, it still arouses great interest. Therefore our paper intends to explore how and to what extent content curation may contribute to it becoming a transnational or European Lieu de mémoire.

The teaching of film literacy is an “uncommon and sporadic practice”. This was the answer of 62% of the 6,701 teachers who participated in a European-wide survey. Only 5% teachers answered it is a “widespread and common practice”. Why is the teaching of film literacy not more widespread? Especially since having access to equipment is no longer a barrier and film and television have a major impact on the way young people see and understand the world. This session tries to see why moving images are not used more and what can be done. It will do so by looking into current practices, presenting potential use cases, and identifying learning objectives that can only be reached by using moving images.

This session presents Jalons (Milestones), an online service aimed at the educational community, created by Ina in partnership with the French Ministry of Education.
Ina (Institut national de l’audiovisuel) was created in 1975. It is one of the world's largest broadcast archives, with collections spanning over 60 years for TV and 80 years for radio. As many documents in these collections take part in the narrative of history in the last century and onward, they are indispensable for education and training.

The presentation focuses on the challenges and opportunities of transmedia storytelling in media history.
The massive digitization of historical sources and their online availability have a deep impact on the practice of doing history in the digital age and require new forms of historical research and storytelling. Drawing from studies in digital storytelling and multimedia narratives, this lecture aims at exploring new forms of non-linear historical storytelling online. In addition, it will address tensions between disciplinary traditions and a lack of scholarly recognition of new genres and formats of online scholarship.

Europe Day commemorates the 9th of May 1950 when Robert Schuman proposed the creation of an organized Europe to maintain peaceful relations. This proposal led to the formation of what is now the European Union. On Europe Day, schools celebrate by decorating with the EU flag, teaching about EU history and member states, creating posters of member states, and having games and quizzes about the EU to improve students' knowledge and understanding of European diversity and unity.

The ECSC established the first European institution and was the origin of the modern European Union. It placed French and German coal and steel production under a common High Authority, making future war between the two countries unthinkable. The Schuman Declaration led to the establishment of supranational European institutions and greater economic and political integration across Europe. Europe Day has been celebrated since 1985 to mark the Schuman Declaration and the beginnings of European unity and cooperation.

CELEBRATING EUROPE DAY – The 9th of May, Europe Day, is celebrated in various forms in most states of the European Union and surrounding countries such as Turkey. Due to the political nature of the day, it sees teaching people about the European Union and speaking in support of European integration. It is the occasion for activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and peoples of the Union closer to one another. Accordingly, our school's activities include students' and teachers' participation in numerous events, debates, workshops and quizzes celebrating the launch, in 1950, of the process that eventually culminated in the formation of the EU. What is more, we regularly attend various lectures and presentations that critically and systematically teach us about different economic aspects of European integration, about the positive and negative sides of EU's single market as well as about legislation and home affairs, common policies on trade and the free movement of people, goods, services and capital within the EU.
Eu flag history
The European Union flag originated from the Council of Europe adopting its current design in 1955 to represent human rights and culture. It was later adopted by the European Parliament in 1983 and all EU leaders in 1985 as the official EU symbol. The flag features 12 golden stars in a circle on a blue background, representing unity, solidarity and harmony among member countries regardless of how many members there are.

The HOPE project aims to aggregate online social and labor history collections from across Europe. It involves partnerships between 10 institutions in 8 countries. The objectives are to develop best practices for digitization, build a social history metadata aggregator and content repository, and create an upgraded labor history portal. HOPE will provide over 880,000 digitized objects like photographs, publications, and recordings to Europeana and other online access points. This will benefit both content providers through international cooperation and users by making collections more accessible.

AEGEE Introduction
AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe) is a non-profit interdisciplinary student organization founded in 1985 in Paris to promote cooperation, understanding, and mobility across Europe. It currently has over 10,000 members across 242 local branches in 42 European countries. AEGEE organizes educational and cultural events like conferences, summer universities, and case study trips to provide opportunities for students to learn about Europe and each other. It operates on a decentralized local level but coordinates activities at a European level to achieve its goals of building an open, tolerant society and democratic Europe without borders.

HOPE will provide over 880,000 digitized objects like photographs, publications, and recordings to Europeana and other online access points. This will benefit both content providers through international cooperation and users by making collections more accessible.

It consists of three events focusing on supporting culture as an engine for development, cultural heritage cooperation, and promoting intercultural dialogue. The events were held in Morocco, the UK, and Germany and brought together practitioners, policymakers, and academics. The final conference will be in Italy. The project aims to foster dialogue between academics and policymakers, cross-fertilize research and practice, improve professional training, and facilitate access to relevant content for international cultural relations.

The EYP represents a non-partisan and independent educational project
which is tailored specifically to the needs of the young European citizen.
The EYP encourages independent thinking and socio-political initiative

professional skills. Since its inauguration, many tens of thousands of
young people have taken part in regional, national and international
sessions, formed friendships and made international contacts across and
beyond borders. The EYP has thus made a vital contribution towards
uniting Europe.
Today the EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political
debate, intercultural encounters, political educational work and the
exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. The EYP consists of a
network of 37 European associations and organisations in which thousands
of young people are active in a voluntary capacity.
