  I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

   Dear Sir / Madam,

Non-governmental organisation “European Youth Parliament” wants to
thank you for the opportunity to present you our organisation and we hope
to establish a fruitful collaboration beneficial for both counterparties.
European Youth Parliament Republic of Moldova is a republican non-
governmental organisation which was founded on the 20 th April 2011 by a
group of enthusiastic and motivated teenagers regarding the creation and
development of an EYP National Committee in our country under the
umbrella of EYP International.
Initially, we started our activities as an EYP initiative group and
afterwards with the support of Slovak AID, we successfully planned and
organized 2 Local Sessions which gathered together 75 and respectively,
100 young people from Republic of Moldova, including Transdniestria.
After few group discussions and debates, youngsters managed to
identify multiple innovative solutions towards the problems and challenges
faced by our country and the whole Europe. After all the Committee
members agreed on the solutions provided by EYP-ers, these were
compiled into resolutions which will be presented to specific institutions
and interested counterparties in the form of a Booklet which was made by
EYP-ers, themselves.
Success of our activities has recommended us not only as credible
partners in Republic of Moldova but as well as towards our international
partners, and thus in May 2012, we became the 37th National Committee
with full membership rights within EYP family, due to fulfilling all the
requirements and unanimous vote of the Board of National Committees.
This opens new opportunities not only for the development of our
organization but for all the Moldovan Youth as well: this means we will be
able to delegate a group of 5 most active teenagers to EYP International
Sessions which will be young Ambassadors of our country with other 250
pupils and students from other 37 European countries.

Moreover, we will be able to organize National, Regional and
International Session where the activity of European Parliament will be
simulated.
Beyond all the above mentioned, we would like to indicate that in July
2012 we negotiated the partnership with the Delegation of European
Union in Republic of Moldova and we are proud to announce that from
now on, all our activities will take place under the honorific patronage of
Chief of European Union Delegation in Republic of Moldova, Mr Dirk
Schuebel.
The EYP represents a non-partisan and independent educational project
which is tailored specifically to the needs of the young European citizen.
The EYP encourages independent thinking and socio-political initiative
in young people and facilitates the learning of crucial social and
professional skills. Since its inauguration, many tens of thousands of
young people have taken part in regional, national and international
sessions, formed friendships and made international contacts across and
beyond borders. The EYP has thus made a vital contribution towards
uniting Europe.
Today the EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political
debate, intercultural encounters, political educational work and the
exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. The EYP consists of a
network of 37 European associations and organisations in which thousands
of young people are active in a voluntary capacity.

II. OBJECTIVES

Objectives of the European Youth Parliament are:

 Raise awareness of youngsters regarding economic and
socio-political problems and challenges faced by Republic
of Moldova and Europe, encourage active citizenship and
motivate and empower youngsters to involve in Politics at
               national and European level.

 Promote international cooperation and intercultural
dialogue as well the diversity of ideas and practises.

               young European generation.

 Develop a forum where teenagers will be able to express
their opinions without reverting to role play.

 Lobby the interests and rights of teenagers, pupils and
students by writing youth public policies, presenting EYP
               resolutions to authorized institutions.

 Create a community of future leaders.

 Inform young citizens about the European History,
European Union, and European Union Institutions by
organizing informing sessions, study visits as well as
present diverse opportunities for youth offered by E.U.

 Contribute to the harmonisation of the Republic of

III. ACTIVITIES:
The EYP involves well over 20,000 young people at more than 100 regional,
national and international events through 37 national organisations every year.
The flagship events of the EYP are its three annual International Sessions. Each
of these sessions brings together about 270 young people from 37 countries for 10
days in different European countries.

All EYP sessions follow a similar
programme and are based on the same
                                           methodology:

 Firstly the participants divide into
international committees and take part in
                                                team building.

 In the ensuing committees the young
delegates start working on a current issue
of European politics and compose a joint
                                                resolution.

 Finally, the resolutions are debated in a
                                                parliamentary General Assembly
following the model of the European
Parliament in both English and French.

 Through a rich cultural programme with
                                                events such as Euroconcert, Eurovillage
                                                or the Country Presentations the
                                                participants become active and creative
                                                themselves and express themselves
                                                through music, acting and dance.

                            What makes an EYP Session?
The basic idea of a session is that the delegates come together in
multi-national committees, each committee looking at a different topic.
Having taken part in team building exercises, the delegates participate in
committee work, producing a resolution on their topic which is then
debated in General Assembly. This summary is, however, a great
simplification and cannot begin to do justice to the experience of a session.
Each session, though with its own unique character, is largely based
on some core elements, which are detailed below. In all they help with the
session´s goal of giving the participants the opportunity to think about the
challenges facing Europe as well as the chance to get to know each other
and each other´s cultures better.

    TEAMBUILDING
On the first weekend of an EYP session, between twelve and twenty
students from all over Europe get together in a committee. These people
who come from very different backgrounds and who have never met
before, need by the end of the week to be
functioning as a close-knit team pulling
together and respecting each other.
And it is this task that is the aim of the
Teambuilding. Under the direction of
experienced team-builders, in conjunction
with the committee Chair, the delegates in
committees engage in a variety of indoor and
                               outdoor activities, some physical, others
creative, yet others more problem solving,
but all of them fun, and all of them designed
to get this disparate group of people working
                               as a team.

       www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md

The culmination of the teambuilding is the teambuilding
presentations, a sketch which every committee has to put together to show
to the other delegates, so bringing everyone back together at the end of the
weekend, and giving the delegates a last fun creative team exercise before
the serious business of Committee Work begins.

                                          COMMITTEE WORK
                                                This is perhaps the central
part of any session. The delegates
                                         of the committee come together,
now working well as a team after
                                         the teambuilding weekend, and
they sit down to discuss their
particular topic. Their goal is to write a resolution on this topic on which
they can all agree. This is not an easy task. They come from very different
perspectives, and will almost certainly have to reach compromises if they
are to find agreement within the time required.
To help them in this, each committee has an experienced Chair, an
older EYP alumnus or expert from our partners IDIS Viitorul and ADEPT,
who ensures that everybody´s ideas are heard and that the resolution
reflects the ideas of the group - that every member of the committee can
feel proud of it.
The discussion is always very heated, but the end result is that each
of the delegates has learnt an incredible amount about the issue, and really
thought about the implications, and have developed and redeveloped their
own views, with a flexible approach paramount. The skills they learn here,
in discussing, debating, persuading and negotiating, will stand them in
good stead for the future.

                                          GENERAL ASSEMBLY
                                          The General Assembly reunites all
the participants of the session, to
                                          consider the results of committee
                                          work. Each committee presents and
                                          defends their motion for resolution,
                                          which is then debated for
                                          approximately 40 minutes by the
                                          Assembly. Thus delegates have to
be familiar not only with their own
topic but also to some extent with
                                          all the resolutions.
At the end of each debate there is a vote - based solely on the
personal conscience of each delegate. Those resolutions which are passed
are subsequently presented to the European Parliament and National
Governments, and other such bodies. While it is true that the European
Parliament has gone on to discuss issues brought up by EYP resolutions,
the main aim of EYP is not so much to exert political influence as to
provide an educational experience for
the individual participants.

EVENING ACTIVITIES

Like all young people, the participants
at an EYP session value the chance to
relax from the very hectic pace of the
session schedule, and the evening
programme is designed with this in
mind. That is not to say that it does
not continue the emphasis of the other
elements of the session, providing
delegates with a unique opportunity to learn about each other and the
diversity of our continent in general. Beyond the time given over to
general socialising, a number of more formal events take place:

Each of the countries represented puts
together a small stall with items from their
country, a flag in the background,
souvenirs and information brochures in the
foreground, and lots and lots of national
food (and sometimes drink!) to be
sampled.

Committee Dinner

Mid-way through the week, this is a chance for the committee members to
get to know each other better during a relaxed evening in one of the host
city´s many restaurants.

                                          Euroconcert

The talents of EYP-ers are various,
and in recognition of the many
                                          musically gifted among the delegates,
this event is a chance for these
                                          musicians to show their abilities,
                                          playing a variety of instruments,
                                          singing and dancing.

Expert Debate

This evening event represents a great opportunity for the delegates to get
into the debating spirit in the run-up to General Assembly, with a number
of invited speakers making speeches on a given topical subject before
engaging in heated debate with the assembled delegates.

Farewell Party

This is the party that marks the end of an incredible week, the last act of
the session. Inevitably it is both a happy and sad occasion, happy because
the delegates have had so much fun, but sad in the knowledge that the
morning, after, they all return to their home countries, changed people
nonetheless.

    IV. TESTIMONIALS

“Within Local Session which took place in Chișinău, many wonderful things happened to us. One of
them was the experience of developing and defending our resolutions in front of other colleagues,
which certainly improved our public speaking skills. The second thing which is as significant as the
first one is actually the people that I met here which later became my friends, especially because of
the fact that I was part of a group where I was the
only boy.

I am motivated to get involved in the nearest future in
other sessions, including international ones.”

Gabriel Diaciuc
Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova

„EYP Session left me only with great impressions;
everybody was active at expressing their interesting
and innovative ideas. Moreover, I liked the topics of
resolutions.

Irina Trancalan
Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova

“As a delegate within EYP Session, I had an experience which I am quite sure will be very useful for
my future. I was delighted with how the session and how things went for the whole three days. It is an
interesting and very useful activity. I think that such sessions should carry on in the future.”

Cristina Novac
Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova

"I am pleased that I managed to discover such motivated people within this project, to actively work
in a team, and actually feel like a delegate with full responsibilities as well as broaden my views on
issues which our society faces. I enjoyed working with different young people who see things, which
are happening in our country, from different perspectives. This is what united us, and helped us to
create complex resolutions. If more young people involved in finding solutions towards these
problems and if these resolutions would be considered and implemented, then I am quite sure, that the
society we live in would be a better, more beautiful and peaceful place. "

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Dear Sir / Madam, Non-governmental organisation “European Youth Parliament” wants to thank you for the opportunity to present you our organisation and we hope to establish a fruitful collaboration beneficial for both counterparties. European Youth Parliament Republic of Moldova is a republican non- governmental organisation which was founded on the 20 th April 2011 by a group of enthusiastic and motivated teenagers regarding the creation and development of an EYP National Committee in our country under the umbrella of EYP International. Initially, we started our activities as an EYP initiative group and afterwards with the support of Slovak AID, we successfully planned and organized 2 Local Sessions which gathered together 75 and respectively, 100 young people from Republic of Moldova, including Transdniestria. After few group discussions and debates, youngsters managed to identify multiple innovative solutions towards the problems and challenges faced by our country and the whole Europe. After all the Committee members agreed on the solutions provided by EYP-ers, these were compiled into resolutions which will be presented to specific institutions and interested counterparties in the form of a Booklet which was made by EYP-ers, themselves. Success of our activities has recommended us not only as credible partners in Republic of Moldova but as well as towards our international partners, and thus in May 2012, we became the 37th National Committee with full membership rights within EYP family, due to fulfilling all the requirements and unanimous vote of the Board of National Committees. This opens new opportunities not only for the development of our organization but for all the Moldovan Youth as well: this means we will be able to delegate a group of 5 most active teenagers to EYP International Sessions which will be young Ambassadors of our country with other 250 pupils and students from other 37 European countries.
  • 4. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md Moreover, we will be able to organize National, Regional and International Session where the activity of European Parliament will be simulated. Beyond all the above mentioned, we would like to indicate that in July 2012 we negotiated the partnership with the Delegation of European Union in Republic of Moldova and we are proud to announce that from now on, all our activities will take place under the honorific patronage of Chief of European Union Delegation in Republic of Moldova, Mr Dirk Schuebel. The EYP represents a non-partisan and independent educational project which is tailored specifically to the needs of the young European citizen. The EYP encourages independent thinking and socio-political initiative in young people and facilitates the learning of crucial social and professional skills. Since its inauguration, many tens of thousands of young people have taken part in regional, national and international sessions, formed friendships and made international contacts across and beyond borders. The EYP has thus made a vital contribution towards uniting Europe. Today the EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political debate, intercultural encounters, political educational work and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. The EYP consists of a network of 37 European associations and organisations in which thousands of young people are active in a voluntary capacity.

OBJECTIVES Objectives of the European Youth Parliament are:  Raise awareness of youngsters regarding economic and socio-political problems and challenges faced by Republic of Moldova and Europe, encourage active citizenship and motivate and empower youngsters to involve in Politics at national and European level.  Promote international cooperation and intercultural dialogue as well the diversity of ideas and practises.  Create a complex platform of non-formal education in order to contribute to personal and professional development of young European generation.  Develop a forum where teenagers will be able to express their opinions without reverting to role play.  Lobby the interests and rights of teenagers, pupils and students by writing youth public policies, presenting EYP resolutions to authorized institutions.  Create a community of future leaders.  Inform young citizens about the European History, European Union, and European Union Institutions by organizing informing sessions, study visits as well as present diverse opportunities for youth offered by E.U.  Contribute to the harmonisation of the Republic of Moldova society with the European principles and values for easier integration in the European Union.
  • 6. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md III. ACTIVITIES: The EYP involves well over 20,000 young people at more than 100 regional, national and international events through 37 national organisations every year. The flagship events of the EYP are its three annual International Sessions. Each of these sessions brings together about 270 young people from 37 countries for 10 days in different European countries. All EYP sessions follow a similar programme and are based on the same methodology:  Firstly the participants divide into international committees and take part in team building.  In the ensuing committees the young delegates start working on a current issue of European politics and compose a joint resolution.  Finally, the resolutions are debated in a parliamentary General Assembly following the model of the European Parliament in both English and French.  Through a rich cultural programme with events such as Euroconcert, Eurovillage or the Country Presentations the participants become active and creative themselves and express themselves through music, acting and dance.

  • 8. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md What makes an EYP Session? The basic idea of a session is that the delegates come together in multi-national committees, each committee looking at a different topic. Having taken part in team building exercises, the delegates participate in committee work, producing a resolution on their topic which is then debated in General Assembly. This summary is, however, a great simplification and cannot begin to do justice to the experience of a session. Each session, though with its own unique character, is largely based on some core elements, which are detailed below. In all they help with the session´s goal of giving the participants the opportunity to think about the challenges facing Europe as well as the chance to get to know each other and each other´s cultures better. TEAMBUILDING On the first weekend of an EYP session, between twelve and twenty students from all over Europe get together in a committee. These people who come from very different backgrounds and who have never met before, need by the end of the week to be functioning as a close-knit team pulling together and respecting each other. And it is this task that is the aim of the Teambuilding. Under the direction of experienced team-builders, in conjunction with the committee Chair, the delegates in committees engage in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, some physical, others creative, yet others more problem solving, but all of them fun, and all of them designed to get this disparate group of people working as a team.
  • 9. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md The culmination of the teambuilding is the teambuilding presentations, a sketch which every committee has to put together to show to the other delegates, so bringing everyone back together at the end of the weekend, and giving the delegates a last fun creative team exercise before the serious business of Committee Work begins. COMMITTEE WORK This is perhaps the central part of any session. The delegates of the committee come together, now working well as a team after the teambuilding weekend, and they sit down to discuss their particular topic. Their goal is to write a resolution on this topic on which they can all agree. This is not an easy task. They come from very different perspectives, and will almost certainly have to reach compromises if they are to find agreement within the time required. To help them in this, each committee has an experienced Chair, an older EYP alumnus or expert from our partners IDIS Viitorul and ADEPT, who ensures that everybody´s ideas are heard and that the resolution reflects the ideas of the group - that every member of the committee can feel proud of it. The discussion is always very heated, but the end result is that each of the delegates has learnt an incredible amount about the issue, and really thought about the implications, and have developed and redeveloped their own views, with a flexible approach paramount. The skills they learn here, in discussing, debating, persuading and negotiating, will stand them in good stead for the future.
  • 10. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md GENERAL ASSEMBLY The General Assembly reunites all the participants of the session, to consider the results of committee work. Each committee presents and defends their motion for resolution, which is then debated for approximately 40 minutes by the Assembly. Thus delegates have to be familiar not only with their own topic but also to some extent with all the resolutions. At the end of each debate there is a vote - based solely on the personal conscience of each delegate. Those resolutions which are passed are subsequently presented to the European Parliament and National Governments, and other such bodies. While it is true that the European Parliament has gone on to discuss issues brought up by EYP resolutions, the main aim of EYP is not so much to exert political influence as to provide an educational experience for the individual participants. EVENING ACTIVITIES Like all young people, the participants at an EYP session value the chance to relax from the very hectic pace of the session schedule, and the evening programme is designed with this in mind. That is not to say that it does not continue the emphasis of the other elements of the session, providing delegates with a unique opportunity to learn about each other and the diversity of our continent in general. Beyond the time given over to general socialising, a number of more formal events take place:
  • 11. Parlamentul European al Tinerilor European Youth Parliament Chişinău, Republica Moldova Chişinău, Republic of Moldova www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md www.eyp.md ; office@eyp.md Eurovillage Each of the countries represented puts together a small stall with items from their country, a flag in the background, souvenirs and information brochures in the foreground, and lots and lots of national food (and sometimes drink!) to be sampled. Committee Dinner Mid-way through the week, this is a chance for the committee members to get to know each other better during a relaxed evening in one of the host city´s many restaurants. Euroconcert The talents of EYP-ers are various, and in recognition of the many musically gifted among the delegates, this event is a chance for these musicians to show their abilities, playing a variety of instruments, singing and dancing. Expert Debate This evening event represents a great opportunity for the delegates to get into the debating spirit in the run-up to General Assembly, with a number of invited speakers making speeches on a given topical subject before engaging in heated debate with the assembled delegates. Farewell Party This is the party that marks the end of an incredible week, the last act of the session. Inevitably it is both a happy and sad occasion, happy because the delegates have had so much fun, but sad in the knowledge that the morning, after, they all return to their home countries, changed people nonetheless.

TESTIMONIALS “Within Local Session which took place in Chișinău, many wonderful things happened to us. One of them was the experience of developing and defending our resolutions in front of other colleagues, which certainly improved our public speaking skills. The second thing which is as significant as the first one is actually the people that I met here which later became my friends, especially because of the fact that I was part of a group where I was the only boy. I am motivated to get involved in the nearest future in other sessions, including international ones.” Gabriel Diaciuc Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova „EYP Session left me only with great impressions; everybody was active at expressing their interesting and innovative ideas. Moreover, I liked the topics of resolutions. Irina Trancalan Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova “As a delegate within EYP Session, I had an experience which I am quite sure will be very useful for my future. I was delighted with how the session and how things went for the whole three days. It is an interesting and very useful activity. I think that such sessions should carry on in the future.” Cristina Novac Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova "I am pleased that I managed to discover such motivated people within this project, to actively work in a team, and actually feel like a delegate with full responsibilities as well as broaden my views on issues which our society faces. I enjoyed working with different young people who see things, which are happening in our country, from different perspectives. This is what united us, and helped us to create complex resolutions. If more young people involved in finding solutions towards these problems and if these resolutions would be considered and implemented, then I am quite sure, that the society we live in would be a better, more beautiful and peaceful place. " Victoria Raţă Participant, 2nd Local Session of EYP Moldova
