Item Oxygen.
Ideas that change lives.
Item Oxygen is committed to pursuing an ambition: to improve
the quality of life of citizens by reducing the distance between
caregivers and patients. Indeed, owing to the experience
gained over more than 10 years in Italian ASLs (local
healthcare centres) and nursing homes, the company is now
capable of designing, manufacturing and marketing high-tech
medical devices. This competence has led Item Oxygen to
define a new philosophy in the sector: bring all that is
necessary in a hospital to the patient’s home. hospital at
home is the latest, patented, state-of-the-art device: the
perfect synthesis of innovation, an instrument that can change
the life of those who need medical care and nursing services.
With H@H time and space
are no longer a limitation.
Some innovations are meant to change the world, in art, technology
and medicine. hospital at home is the web-based telemedicine
system conceived for the care of patients who are not in
life-threatening condition. It guarantees continuous,
round-the-clock monitoring of medical parameters directly at home.
The occasional measurement of these parameters does not always
give a clear and reliable picture of the patient’s condition.
hospital at home allows constant measurement, thus providing
unequivocal data on the evolution of the medical condition.
Indeed, video communication ensures interaction between
caregivers and patients by moving data and not people.
The result is a substantial increase in the rate of dehospitalisation,
with enormous advantages for the Health Service in terms of costs,
time and quality of the services offered.
A simple idea
that really works.
The hospital at home system is made up of a home device – of the
same size as a bed stand – and a Service Centre Module: the
monitoring station through which the caregiver monitors patients from a
remote location. The two instruments are interconnected via Internet,
allowing data to be exchanged in real time, conveniently and safely.
In this manner, thanks to a thoroughly user-friendly interface,
the healthcare personnel can access, with few hand movements,
the patient data page and immediately view the fundamental remote
monitoring parameters.

The Service Centre module comprises all the functions required for assistance in a telemedicine system:
  monitoring of physiological parameters;
  activation of the equipment provided with the device;
  management of the case sheet;
  video communication with the patient;
  viewing and management of alarms;
  communication with other caregivers;
  management of the electro-medical equipment provided (home oxygen therapy and vacuum therapy).

Sometimes innovation means
staying comfortably home.
hospital at home is an unprecedented innovation opportunity in the
field of telemedicine. It allows reducing diagnosis and treatment times,
number of tests and home-to-healthcare facility transfers. These
extraordinary advantages result in a sure improvement of the quality
of life, especially for elderly patients or for those with impaired mobility.
In basic configuration, the hospital at home device simultaneously
monitors vital parameters such as:
hospital at home also offers caregivers the possibility of video
communicating with the patient in real time. This advantage leads to
the establishment of a constant relationship that is psychologically
reassuring for the patient. The interaction of the diagnosis with the
therapy provided (at the moment, oxygen and vacuum therapy) is a
determining factor in terms of innovation. The physician has access to
an extraordinarily efficient piece of equipment that allows the same
immediate clinical evaluations as in a hospital setting.
Sp02, oxygen saturation

ECG, electrocardiogram
body temperature

The patient is at the centre of
everything. All the rest is around.
The innovations of the hospital at home device technology not only
guarantee efficiency and rapid intervention, but also remarkably
contribute to improving the patient’s wellbeing, and his/her
emotional and psychological condition.
The care and attention are closely comparable with those received
when hospitalised in a normal healthcare facility, with the advantage of
round-the-clock monitoring, the comfort of a family home and the
support of one’s family members who are no longer obliged to travel,
often at great expense in terms of money and effort.
H@H creates new opportunities
and knocks down useless costs.
Widespread use of the hospital at home system represents an
extraordinary advantage not only for end users and caregivers, but also
for the entire National Health Service. Presently, hospitalisation of a
patient in Italy involves enormous expenses.
hospital at home allows knocking down 41%* of hospitalisation
costs by dehospitalising a great number of patients with ordinary or
sub-critical pathologies and long-term patients, thus achieving
remarkable savings for the entire community.
The system also allows a substantial reduction of hospital readmissions
for post-discharge relapses.

H@H: an opportunity
to everyone’s advantage.
Item Oxygen is committed to promoting the hospital at home device to
public and private facilities, namely:
