This document provides instructions for a mastery assignment on the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka. Students are asked to watch a video about the tsunami's impact and make a list of 10 facts, then write a paragraph using the facts. Alternatively, students can read an article about the tsunami, make a 10 fact list, and write a paragraph. The paragraph should have a topic sentence, 3 details sentences, and a conclusion. Students will submit their fact list and paragraph.

2. What are you asked to do in 2.4.3? You are to watch a video about the tsunami in Sri Lanka. You will make a list of 10 facts as you watch the video about the issues they faced. And then you will write a clear paragraph about the video. Yes, you can use the ideas from your list in your paragraph. If you can’t open the video, go to slide and I will offer you an alternative assignment.

3. In your paragraph You need to write a clear topic sentence. The topic sentence is the main idea of the paragraph. And then you will write at least 3 more sentences with vivid details about what you learned about the devastating results of the tsunami. And then write a concluding paragraph.

4. 2.4.3 - finally You will save your list of 10 facts along with your paragraph. Then you will submit your assignment in the view/complete. Go to the next slide for the alternative assignment to 2.4.3

5. Alternative assignment If you can’t get to the video, then you just google “articles on the tsumani in Sri Lanka.” Find one that you would like to read. Copy and paste it into a word document and read it. Then make a list of 10 facts about the article. Then write the paragraph just as you would have done in the original assignment. Refer to slides 2 and 3.
