This document defines and describes several components of physical fitness: cardiovascular ability as the heart and lung's delivery of oxygen to working muscles; flexibility as the range of motion of joints; muscular strength as the maximum force a muscle can exert; muscular endurance as a muscle's ability to exert sub-maximal force repeatedly; and body composition referring to the proportions of muscle, bone, and fat in the body. It instructs the reader to compute their body mass index on a quarter sheet of paper to submit in the next session.
