โHazardous waste means any waste which by
reason of any of its physical, chemical, reactive,
toxic, flammable, explosive or corrosive
characteristics causes danger or is likely to cause
danger to health or environment, whether alone
or when in contact with other wastes or

5. Checklist for Identification
โข What is the process that is generating the waste
โข Is the flashpoint less than 60o C
โข Is the pH less than 2 or greater than 12.5
โข Is it Poisonous
โข Does the material releases fumes on shaking or when
exposed to air or water
6. Storage
โข The Period for Storage of Hazardous waste in 90 days.
โข Storage should be separate from work area
โข Entry in the storage area must be restricted
โข Different wastes should be using Secondary Storages
โข NFPA Diamonds may be used for Storage Area

โข Where an accident occurs at the facility of the
occupier handling hazardous or other wastes and
operator of the disposal facility or during
transportation, the occupier or the operator or the
transporter shall immediately intimate the State
Pollution Control through telephone, e-mail about
the accident and subsequently send a report in Form
