This document discusses the history and evolution of computer hardware, software, networking, and their impact on society. It provides examples of different types of hardware like laptops, gaming computers, and household computers. It explains how software programs enable the use of hardware and are developed by programmers. Networking allows information sharing between computers and led to the creation of the World Wide Web and social media. Computers have significantly changed modern society by facilitating online shopping, socializing, and access to information, but have also reduced social skills and could replace human jobs with robotics.

1. Section 1 hardware.

These are some good examples of different hardware.
1) This is a laptop it is different from the rest because it is small, easy to move and has an
internal battery. This is most likely to be used by business people students or someone who
doesn’t have room for a standalone pc.
2) This is a gaming computer it is different because it is designed to hold more info and
make decisions faster than your normal household computer its most likely to be used by
someone who likes high quality gaming.
3) This is you average household computer it has nothing to make it stand out and
sometimes people just want a computer to do a simple tasks. This computer comes in a
fairly normal price range from £350-£1000+.
Computers have evolved over the years because the different
parts of the hardware have shrunk in size. In 1950 the bits inside the
computers where the size of rooms now they are all in the form of
microchips. I think computers are going to develop in the future
because they are going to get smaller and faster.

2. Section two software
Software is information that is loaded onto hardware which enables the user to access a program .
examples of software are Microsoft windows and Apple ios. Software is built by programmers , using
a suitable computer language I.E. binary code. Computers can only operate to mathmatical code
systems. Once a “program” is built in this way , it can be input to the computer. Other software is
input by disc or downloaded online to the computer . Over the years CPU’s (cental procesor units)
have been developed to become extremely fast in interpreting comands via disc or online download
etc. also graphics cards and hard drives are all hardware devices that accommodate far more
sophisticated software.
In the future I think that vocal commands will be given to the computer and they will be converted
into binary code. The commands then transmited from the computer into the hologram formats.
And maybe , from your computer you will be able to transmit your hologram to distant countries for
meetings, and I think that they will replace emails.
Section 3 networking
There are two types of network, switches and routers. Switches are internal networks and connect
computers throughout a building, ie in a hospital or a school. The system can be upgraded using the
main CPU and these changes are applied throughout the system. Routers are used for external
sources ie the internet, search engines , email and skype.
Networking lets teams of people develop projects and investigation or information sharing this only
happened when the world wide web was created. Since the web was created it has grown and now
includes social media, academic information , public and private sites. The web helps start up
buisness’s to promote the buisness thay can do this by creating adverts to put on more popular web
sites or create a website that stands out. This has shaped the modern human race because we do
things today that we could only dream of doing 30 years ago for example we now shop online more
than we shop in store.
Secion 4 society
Computer hardware and software have let man share information instantly. Our grandparents would
have had a shelf of encyclopedias and atlases, none of which are needed today.Learning has been
made significantly easier with information at your fingertips.
People communicate through social media now rather than socialising face to face.This means that
they haven’t developed the same social skills. Without these social skills people find it hard to get

3. jobs or hold certain jobs down ie sales assistants need to comminicate with their customers and be
at ease.
Computers have moved forward medical research, space travel, complex maths and physics
problems.
In the future robotics will start to replace the human workforce, they will be
cheaper, work 24/7 with no breaks and no pension. The military are already using
robotics to fly unmanned aircraft
for spying and attacking the
enemy.
