Baking
I enjoy baking as a leisure occupation.
This is because it not only allows me
to be creative but it is also very
rewarding and exciting, seeing and
tasting the finished product is always
fun. I enjoy trying out new recipes and
recommendations from friends and
family to keep things exciting and to
keep challenging myself.
This is a banana chocolate chip cake I made at home in
the recent holidays.
My holiday job
For the past 5 years I have had a
holiday/weekend job at a cafe in
my hometown. I started there
washing dishes now I am the main
barista. I value this occupation as
it has taught me various things,
such as people skills, how to
cook a variety of things and how
to make a coffee.
This is a coffee I made when I was home this past
summer.
Water Skiing
I have been water skiing on
and off for the past 10 years
and I recently got back into it
two years ago. I throughly
enjoy this occupation as both
my brothers and my mum do it
so it creates some healthy
competition between us.
This is me skiing this past summer on Lake
Tarawera
Walking
Around my home there is so
many beautiful places and I love
to take my dogs on long walks to
explore them. This is an
important occupation in my life as
it not only keeps me fit and
healthy but it also is extremely
relaxing.
This is one of the bush walks that I like to walk at home.
Horse riding
This is one of the occupations I
most enjoy, I have been riding for 15
years thanks to mum introducing it to
me at a young age. We often ride
together which is an amazing way to
spend time together and explore new
places. I have met so many amazing
people through riding and it is
something I hold close to my heart.
This is a ride me and mum went on in these past holidays.
Being a Student
I have been a student for the
past 15 years of my life and it
is the one thing that I love to
hate. Although school or
polyptych can be hard at times
I remember that i’m doing this
for a reason; because I can’t
wait to be an occupational
therapist and help people. It
gives my life purpose and
meaning.
This is all the people doing occupational therapy from Salmond last year.
The top photo is at the start of the year and the bottom one is the end.
Surfing
I have surfed on and off for 16 years… more off than on. I was always encouraged to
try it as both my brothers do it as well as my mum, we also have a beach house in
Ohope which is a really safe beach so grew to love it. I value it as it creates fun and
healthy competition within my family.
I don’t have a photo of me surfing but this is a photo I took from the lookout looking down Ohope beach.
Family
Being a
daughter/auntie/sister/
cousin/niece is my most
valued occupation.
Family is extremely
important to me and it
gives me a sense of
belonging. I can't wait to
become an auntie again
and even a mother one
day.
This is my family, my Mum, Dad, two older brothers and my brothers girlfriend.
Cooking
I thoroughly enjoy cooking as an
occupation as I have been doing it
ever since i can remember, even just
helping mum in the kitchen when I was
really young. Unlike baking, cooking
allows me to be less précis and more
experimental and flexible with my
methods. I value it as it brings people
together and is a happy time for all
involved.
This is a sushi night I prepared this past summer holidays for my family.
Friend
I greatly value my occupation as a
friend. It is an occupation I don't
often think about due to it being a
very normal thing for almost
everyone to be. However when I do
I realise how much it means to me as
an individual and how much I under
appreciate it as such a basic thing
on a day to day basis.

Christchurch for a music festival earlier this year
