About Hangar 3A
Business need & Solution
Hangar 3A is a Heavy Maintenance Hanger which is designed mainly for the wide body aircraft including B747
series (including B747-8), A330/A340 and B777 series. Tow hanger bays, namely Bay 7 & Bay 8 shall be
provided solely for the Light Maintenance operations without a fixed docking system. The Bay J will offer
partial hanger coverage up to the engines for the wide bodied aircraft range and full coverage for the Airbus
A320 type.
Project details
AEL carried out the extension project by design,
manufacturing and installing the docking to the
hanger. The extension project was completed by the
mid of 2009.
Case Study
he Hangar 3A is an area of 175m x 98m and the
hanger roof is a three level step design allowing
for nose-in docking configuration for wide-bodiedTAircraft. The roof structure has been designed to allow
for fully suspended fuselage and tail docks, while the
nose docks will be supported on hanger floor.
