Act 1 Scene 1
1 – What did Marcellus and Barnardo see at the battlement?
They saw the ghost of the dead King of Denmark ( King Hamlet ).
2 – Why didn't Horatio believe Barnardo?
Because he has never seen a ghost before and he thought he will never see
one.
3 – Why did Barnardo think that the ghost is Angry?
Because the ghost didn't speak to them and it walked away.
4 – How was the ghost dressed? What do you think it is a symbol for?
He was wearing armour, as he did in battle when he killed old king of
Norway. Horatio thought it might be a warning to the state of Denmark as
ghosts appear in time of troubles.
5 – What did Young Fortinbras demand from Denmark?
He wanted the land which King Hamlet won from Norway, thinking
Denmark became weak after King Hamlet Had died.
6 – What happened when the ghost was about to speak?
The cock crew which means a warning for the ghost that the night is over.
7 – What happen to ghosts when daylight comes?
All ghosts return to darkness.

Comment:
1 – " That's true. I've never seen a ghost and never will."
It was said by Horatio to Barnardo and Marcellus When he went to the
battlement to make sure that the guards have seen the ghost.
2- " It is angry and it walks away"
It was said by Barnardo to Horatio and Marcellus at the battlement when
the ghost appeared then has gone .
3 – " When the daylight comes, all ghosts return to darkness."
It was said by Marcellus to Horatio and Barnardo at the battlement when
the cock crew then the ghost disappeared.
4 – "Let us impart what we have seen tonight
Unto young Hamlet. For upon my life,
This spirit dumb to us will speak to him."
This was said by Horatio to Barnardo and Marcellus at the battlement
when he decided to tell Hamlet about the ghost of his father.

Act 1 Scene 2
1 – Who were at the Great Hall of the castle?
King Claudius, Queen Gertrude, Hamlet , Polonius, Laertes, and all the
courtiers.
2 – Who was Laertes? Why did he come to Denmark?
Laertes was the son of Polonius. He came to Denmark for the coronation
of King Claudius.
3 – What did Queen Gertrude ask Hamlet to do?
She asked him not to wear black clothes, to get over his sadness and move
on, she also asked him to stay in Denmark.

Comment:
1 – " All Denmark mourned him as a gracious king"
It was said by King Claudius to all the courtiers at the Great Hall of the
castle.
2 – " I came to Denmark for your coronation"
It was said by Laertes, the son of Polonius, to King Claudius At the Great
Hall of the castle
3 – " We mourn death for time and then move on. You seem to think
that mourning lasts forever."
It was said by Queen Gertrude to Hamlet at the Great Hall of the castle
after she married Claudius And his coronation.
4 – " closer by marriage- not in any other way."
It was said by Hamlet to his uncle Claudius. Hamlet was still sad for his
father's death and he couldn't believe that his mother married Claudius in
a short time (two months ) after her husband died.
5 – " My Lord. I came here for your father's funeral."
It was said by Horatio to Hamlet at the Great Hall of the castle. Horatio
decided to tell Hamlet about the ghost he had seen with the guards.
6 – " His face was pale and sad, My Lord"
It was said by Horatio to Hamlet When Hamlet asked him about the ghost
of his father .
