The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) provides affordable health insurance to low-income Austin musicians. It was founded in 1991 after Austin declared itself the "Live Music Capital of the World" and many uninsured musicians migrated there. HAAM's mission is to provide access to preventative and wellness healthcare for Austin's musicians making below 250% of the federal poverty level. The coverage includes general health insurance, dental, mental health, and hearing programs.
