This study investigates the effects of excessive fluoride consumption on calcium homeostasis and Ca2+-ATPase activity in erythrocyte membranes of patients with fluorosis. Findings reveal a significant reduction in intracellular calcium levels and Ca2+-ATPase activity, correlated with elevated serum fluoride levels, indicating that fluoride negatively impacts erythrocyte membrane function. The results suggest that fluoride-induced alterations in erythrocyte membranes may contribute to the pathogenesis of fluorosis-related abnormalities.
