In the end, they had created a realistic looking flat without any additional props.

- 1. HISTORICAL The play In the Heights is set in the present day, Washington Heights, Manhattan. It is a rough place, people are struggling for money, struggling to pay electric, as Usnavi works in a coffee shop and Daniela is struggling to keep her salon open. Constant gambling as people are so in need for money everyone is buying a lottery ticket. Alot of blackouts happen as they don't have a lot of power. GEOGRAPHICAL It is set in a small city with shops around, including Nina's father's Car shop, Daniela's Salon. Barrio, the spanish section of the city it is the Latin District. Most of the people on the street are spanish or portugain. SOCIAL Everyone is working class, no one is rich until Abuela wins the lottery. Everyone is struggling and work really hard for their money which in some cases doesn't get them that far as the city itself is poor as they are always running out of power. Everyone is very family oritated.
