Violence has become a major health issue in the society. Workplace violence is one of the areas that
continues to witness a rise. This takes various forms, inclusive are bullying and active gun shooter

immediate area. To "alert" is to notify law enforcement and security personnel in the first instance,

The third article deals with an analysis of the preventability of active shooter incidents. Though the
author concludes that active shooter incidents are hardly preventable, the supporting data is
reassuring, in that, it indicates that the chances of such incidents amount to 2% annually based on
statistics that only 154 shootings occurred over an eleven–year period (Hospital Employee Health,
2013). However, we are informed that large hospitals are more prone than smaller hospitals to
accidents, and incidents are one–third less likely to occur where metal detectors are deployed.
The fourth article "Preparing for active shooter situations" serves as a good conclusion to the short
course on active shooter syndrome in hospitals, namely that hospitals should involve law
enforcement in their preparation; each hospital should develop communication methods of
disseminating information to staff, visitors, first responders; establish procedures for employees and
patient's safety such as lock–downs and evacuation procedures. Importantly, constant drills and
simulations of scenarios are important to prepare staff and patients for any shooter eventuality. The

School shootings, gang violence, drive by shootings, murder, and thousands of acts of violence are
committed every day. Members of our society criticize their own people for this violence while they
continue to sit back and do nothing about it. These acts of violence have many contributing factors.
Violence in our country today is escalating because we don't control the distribution of the guns sold.
There are not enough restrictions on guns sold legally. The illegal purchase of guns through the black
market is out of control. There is not enough education on the usage and storage of guns.

These guns are sold on what is called the black market to basically anyone. Anyone of any age, with
no waiting period, no matter what your criminal record is, can purchase these guns. The fact that
these guns are sold illegally allows guns to fall into the wrong hands. Gang members and murderers
purchase these guns and go onto the streets and kill members of our own families. These problems
are trying to be prevented by catching them and putting them in jail. By this point it is too late,
someone?s child or mother has been killed. If the guns were taken out of their hands the crime
would never be committed.
There should be guidelines set to insure the safety of our society before the gun is purchased.
There should be a safety test given before the gun could be purchased. A test to show that the
owners know how to properly use the gun. It is a requirement to take a test to show your ability
before you get your drivers license, why not a before you buy a gun? There should also be a class
taught teaching the proper storage of a gun. Teaching to keep the gun in a locked cabinet with the
key in separate area. And the three to five day waiting period should remain.

The right as an American to own a firearm has always been apart of our history. However, recent
events have put into the question the second amendment and whether or not it still holds any real
purpose in our society. Gun violence has constantly occurred throughout our history and has always

This brings up not just one problem but a large and complex amount of problems since there is
no one solution for these events. The problem isn't guns but the people who carry them. "Guns
don't kill people, people kill people" is one of those quotes that many gun advocates use in there
own defense, however, the truth is that people use guns for what they were made for, killing. So
the blame isn't the guns because that is there purpose, to end life, the blame is the people. Instead
of putting all the blame on guns and the law we need to focus our attention on the people who
commit these crimes and see why they committed them because finding the solution to what

may be run down and can only make the most out of the limited resources the school budget has
allowed. In other cases you may have been influenced by peer pressure or friends as this is only
option for a way of life.
The second amendment states that right to keep and bear arms. This law has been etched in the

Gun is violence is a very controversial political topic that has been discussed repeatedly over the
last couple years. While there are many people that support loosening gun laws there are also just
as many people who are 100% against the idea. David Burnett and Darby Dickerson happen to be
2 individuals who both have conflicting views on gun laws and what should and should not be
allowed in the United States. In this particular case, the two differ specifically on how gun laws
should be treated on college campuses. On one side, there is David Burnett, dean of Texas Tech
University School of Law, who completely supports the idea of concealed carry on college
campuses. On the other side David Burnett, the director of public relations for Students, who is
completely against the idea. Both authors do a very good job at not only standing firm in their
position but also providing the evidence to back up their position. Darby Dickerson's supports most
of his claims by talking about statistics, tragic events, and rulings that took place in the judicial

show over 50 percent of gun crimes committed were not related to a felony, but were due to some

Sounds cool right? Well, to some it might and that's how young children are living in our
communities now–a–days. Kids are able to get guns as long as they have parents with guns or the

can get ahold of it. If your child gets ahold of the firearm, they could shoot or worse, kill themselves
or someone else. Properly hide your firearms and there will be no gun for your child to shoot or kill

Studies show some parents underestimate their children's experience handling firearms. That's the
biggest mistake a parent can make, especially in this generations time and day. There are so many
ways for a young child to learn about guns; how to use them, where to get them, how much they cost,
pretty much anything. Never underestimate what your child knows about anything. They'll surprise
you. They may not know about it because they wanted to know.

protect themselves with. We do have police to protect you but they will not make it as near as
