Jesus called Matthew and some fishermen to follow him and become "fishers of men", spreading the gospel and helping others find faith. Matthew went on to write the gospel of Matthew, chronicling Jesus' teachings. Many disciples like Matthew, Luke, Paul and others in the book of Acts helped spread Christianity beyond Israel by faithfully sharing Jesus' message wherever they went, using their own talents to benefit others. God can use anyone willing to follow him.
God promised to save us from our enemies so that we could serve God without fear and lead holy and godly lives. Jesus fulfilled this promise through his incarnation, crucifixion, inspiration, and resurrection. Though the world brings trouble, Jesus has won the battle over the world and gives us peace. The true gift of Christmas is that through Jesus, we can have a relationship with God and live according to his commandments of love.
The disciples followed Jesus because:
1) John the Baptist had identified Jesus as the Messiah, so Andrew and Peter were interested in learning from him.
2) Jesus' teachings and miracles impressed them, and he called them to follow and learn from him.
3) Though they did not understand everything about his mission, they were willing to commit to following Jesus regardless of popularity or understanding.
Jesus lived as a human among people in order to show them love. He spoke their language, ate their food, wore their clothes, and followed local customs. Jesus treated all people with humility, kindness, and respect, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. He set an example of showing love and honor to others through acts of service.
The document discusses what Jesus did for humanity according to the Bible. The document provides numerous Bible verses to support each of these points, showing that Jesus took on human form, lived without sin, and willingly died on the cross to save mankind from sin and death before rising from the grave.

We also find several very different personalities and get the opportunity to see how each demonstrates his faith and bears testimony to Jesus.
Why does Jesus call His disciples "salt"? What are the functions of salt? Why does He mention "salt" before light? What are the characteristics of light? Why does Jesus call His disciples "light"? What are the functions of light? Why would anyone think of hiding their light or placing their light "under a basket"? How, practically, does a Christian "let their light shine"? How does light shine from a follower of Jesus? Where does the believer's light shine?

The conclusion encourages readers to have Christ himself occupy their heart rather than peripheral doctrines.

Moses grew frustrated with constantly addressing the Israelites' complaints. God called Moses the meekest man and supported him with additional leaders. The Israelites faced attacks from enemies but were protected when Moses prayed to God. They continued to face consequences for their lack of faith in God as their leader through the wilderness.

Jesus called the twelve apostles together and gave them power over demons and to heal diseases. He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and heal the sick. He instructed them to take nothing on their journey except the clothes they were wearing. They were to stay in whatever house welcomed them until leaving the area. Wherever they were not received, they were to shake the dust off their feet as a testimony against that place. The apostles then departed and went throughout the villages preaching and healing.

The document discusses confronting people about their spiritual priorities, especially when facing death or surgery. It warns against relying on psychedelic drugs or New Age practices instead of Jesus Christ. While a positive attitude can aid health, only faith in Christ offers eternal life. The catechism outlines the essential Christian message in three parts: man's misery (guilt), man's deliverance (grace), and man's response (gratitude). It teaches that Jesus is our faithful Savior, who fully redeemed us through his blood and also preserves us as his own. Our only comfort in life and death is belonging to Christ, who saves and keeps us for eternity.
The catechism provides Christians with three essential things to know in order to live and die in comfort: 1) How great their sins and misery are in order to understand their need for salvation; 2) How they are delivered from all their sins and misery through God's grace; 3) How they are to be thankful to God for such deliverance through their grateful response. It structures these three teachings around the concepts of man's guilt, God's grace, and the believer's gratitude, mirroring the structure of the book of Romans. The catechism uses the word "faithful" to describe Jesus' character, emphasizing his trustworthiness in both saving and keeping all those who belong to him.
1. The document discusses an alternative understanding of the gospel that focuses on God identifying with human suffering rather than punishing sin.
2. It argues that God did not kill his son, but that evil humans killed Jesus, who was both fully God and fully human. God experienced abandonment and suffering along with Jesus.
3. The conclusion is that many Christians are rediscovering that the original gospel portrayed a loving God, not an angry punisher, and that God understands human pain, having endured extreme suffering himself through the crucifixion.
