The Gualterianas are annual festivities that have taken place in Guimarães, Portugal since 1906 in honor of Saint Gualter. They are held the first weekend of August and include a historic procession, flower battles, fireworks, a cattle fair, and popular music performances. Over the past century, the Gualterianas have become an important part of the city's culture and economy, demonstrating the vitality of Guimarães. They feature ornate decorations and lighting around the city as well as regional folklore dances and processions. The festivities are now organized by the Guimarães City Council and conclude after three days with a beautiful closing march.
