• Spyware is a type of malware that tries to keep itself hidden
while it secretly records information and tracks your online
activities on your computers or mobile devices.
• It can monitor and copy everything you enter, upload,
download, and store.
• It can collect all types of data including personal information like
internet surfing habits, user logins and bank or credit account
information.

1. T-Mobile suffers snother Data Breach, affecting 37 Million
accounts.
2. Social Security Numbers stolen in PayPal cyberattack.
3. LastPass says November breach exposed basic personal data.

• Identity theft occurs when someone uses another person’s
personal identifying information like their name, identifying
number, or credit card number, without their permission, to
commit fraud or other crimes.
• It is a method used to gain financial advantages or obtain credit
and other benefits and may cause other person’s loss.
7. Some of the Techniques:
• Pretext Calling – Thieves pretending to be an employee of a
company over phone asking for financial information are an
example of this theft. Pretending as legitimate employees they ask
for personal data with some buttery returns.
• Mail Theft – This is a technique in which credit card information
with transactional data is extracted from the public mailbox.

• 5 million Filipinos identity theft victims, says data analytics firm.
• Online seller nabbed for identity theft.
• Man arrested for credit card fraud, identity theft.
9. REASONS:
• The group decided on the topic to made us aware of its effects on
us users.
• This will enable us to be alert on suspicious emails and pop-ups on
our computers and mobile phones.
• Protect ourselves by being aware of these malware and online
fraud.
