The Green Schools movement is growing nationwide. Going Green does not have to be complex or difficult. Our experience has shown us that starting simple and starting small can yield big results.

With 2019 approaching, we are more than ever concerned about what the future might look like if we do not change our habits and stop neglecting Mother Nature that has shown us during the last few years the way she fights back.

During Plastic Pollution Coalition's August webinar, we discussed ways to reduce plastic pollution during and after the pandemic. The webinar was moderated by Jackie Nuñez, Founder of The Last Plastic Straw and & Advocacy Program Manager at Plastic Pollution Coalition, and panelists included: Eve Fox, Digital Director, Beyond Plastics; Cassia Patel, Program Director, Oceanic Global, and Lindsey Hoell, Co-Founder & CEO, Dispatch Goods. The webinar took place on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
World Environment Day is an environment programme run by the United Nations. Every year June 5 is observed as World Environment Day. As the name suggests this day is observed to create awareness about various ways to protect the nature. There are many NGOs that directly work towards environment protection but there are charities like Akshaya Patra who implement green initiatives while working towards its primary cause of providing mid-day meal.
Green consumption has not gone mass in Malaysia. There is a general lackadaisical attitude when it comes to environmental issues it seems. The question now begets, what makes Malaysians tick when it comes to green.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Step 1: Keep It Simple
There are many great resources and
organizations that promote the Green
School movement. In Fact, too many to
list on this page!
www.greenbenefits.net
3. The problem is that many groups make it
too difficult to join the Green Schools
movement. They require large
leadership teams or extensive plans to
be filled out.
www.greenbenefits.net
4. This results in no action. Keep it simple
and do something good for your
community. Simple is best and simple is
sustainable.
www.greenbenefits.net
5. Step 2: Consider Green Apparel
School apparel is the common thread that
bonds all schools. Take the opportunity
for your school apparel program to
educate your community and kick start
your Green Schools program.
www.greenbenefits.net
6. The right school apparel program can
teach the following lessons:
• Fair Trade
• Social Justice
• Sustainable Practices
www.greenbenefits.net
7. A better school apparel program does
not cost more! What is keeping your
group from making the change?
www.greenbenefits.net
8. Step 3: Reduce & Reuse
America has a great fascination for
recycling and we tend to ignore the more
important ideas of reduce and reuse.
www.greenbenefits.net
9. Keep it simple! Start in a classroom,
lunchroom or school event. Come up
with a plan to Reduce and Reuse.
www.greenbenefits.net
10. Starting is the most important part! Now
share and cultivate the idea at your
school and watch it grow.
www.greenbenefits.net
11. Step 4: Take Back the Tap
Our country is addicted to disposable
plastic. Do you part in conserving
resources while improving school spirit
with a water bottle program.
www.greenbenefits.net
12. Join the movement of schools across the
nation drinking tap water and refusing
disposable plastic bottles.
www.greenbenefits.net
13. Providing high quality custom reusable
water bottles helps spread the message
that your school cares about the
environment.
www.greenbenefits.net
14. Step 5: Service
Service is at the core of the Green Schools
movement. Help educate your
community and support local and global
causes.
www.greenbenefits.net
15. Helping is contagious! Start small with a
single club or group and soon the entire
school will be making their community
stronger through service.
www.greenbenefits.net
16. In Summary
Start Small
Keep it Simple
Make it Fun
And it will grow!
www.greenbenefits.net
17. Thank you! The team at Green Benefits has
been working with schools nationwide since
2007. We specialize in sustainable
