International Business Leadership
MIAMI, FL, November 30, 2012 – The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce presented the sixth annual
International Business Leadership Awards at Miami’s Jungle Island. The awards program recognizes business
leadership in international activities in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors that significantly impact the
economy of South Florida.
The 2012 International Business Leadership Awards recipients are by category:
Business Retention & Expansion: IATA (International Air Transport Association) (large business); Novartis
(Florida) (small business)
Entrepreneurship: Dolce Vita Gelato (large business); RTF International Business Development, Inc. (small
business)
Innovation & Innovative Practices: Miami Association of REALTORS (large business); KUEPA (small business)
Philanthropic & Community Leadership: Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic
Business Excellence (non-U.S. based): Nectar Sarl (Mirazur)
Corporate Social Responsibility (non-U.S. based): Cerro Matoso, S.A.
The awardees were recognized alongside Lifetime Achievement honoree Frank Ryll of the Florida Chamber.
Additionally, G. Lee Sandler of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. was presented with the Ponce de Leon
Pioneering Spirit Award. In honor of the 500 years since Ponce de Leon landed in Florida, the Chamber created
the award to recognize members who have pioneered or lead the way to new frontiers and who have gone
above and beyond to promote international business and the state of Florida.
Ryll began his business career at the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, moved to the Greater
Greenville South Carolina Chamber, and joined the Florida Chamber in January 1980 as Senior Vice
President for Economic Development. It wasn’t long before he was promoted to President. Since then
both the Foundation and the Chamber have grown to be the premier voice for Florida’s businesses and a
benchmark for chambers across the country. In his current role as director of global outreach, Ryll is

helping secure Florida’s future by leading the Florida Chamber’s efforts to double Florida-origin exports by
2015 and make the state a hub for international trade and logistics.
Sandler is a founding member of the law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. and a principal of its
affiliated consulting company Sandler Travis Trade Advisory Services. He and his firm have long played a
prominent role in international trade development in Miami and throughout the state of Florida. While the
Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce has been his home base for more than thirty years, Sandler has
also served the Florida Chamber of Commerce, World Trade Center Miami, The Beacon Council, Florida
Bar, Florida International Trade and Investment Council, Miami-Dade International Trade Consortium, and
Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association. Outside Florida, he has held positions at the American
Association of Exporters and Importers, the American Free Trade Association, the International Trade Surety
Association, and was appointed by five administrations to advise the U.S. government on international
trade negotiations.
