Bengal was once a hotbed for football talent in India, producing many national team players. However, in recent decades Bengal has not produced as much talent. This is due to a lack of proper grassroots development and nurturing of young talents. The big clubs in Kolkata have not done enough to develop academies and provide professional coaching for young players. As a result, international clubs have set up academies in other cities instead of Kolkata. For Bengal football to regain its former glory, more focus needs to be given to establishing sustainable academies, reducing politics and infighting in the sport's administration, and getting fans more involved in supporting youth development.

carrier for positive messages on issues such as corruption and HIV/Aids for the youth and
society as a whole.
While Kenya is well known as a sporting nation, this success is not reflected in the football
sector, which has been particularly prone to squabbling and corruption.
Corruption in sports is not new. There are concerns the world over about the lack of transparency
and accountability in sports and the resultant social and economic impact. The risk of corruption
has increased dramatically as commercial influences grow1.
