2. NOUN CLAUSES:
1 .The latest evidence that this strategy has backfired comes in the form of the rise of
the curiosly named Mangal Bagh.
2 It has now emerged that he has joined forces with the Taliban after previously
distancing himself from them. (subjunctive)
3 Reports indicate that the militants are putting up stiff resistence. (subjunctive)
4 His rise is similar to that of Fazalullah in Malakund.
5 But also like Fazalullah,he turned out too slippery to handle.
6 It is evident that in the short term,the state needs to clear and hold the territory
occupied by the militants.
