technologies.
• Merged Hays Business Services with Rockall Data Services in Aberdeen delivering savings in staff,
plant and facilities.
• Downsized overall staff by 15% in 5 years while achieving growth in key evolving service areas through
re-training of remaining staff. Delivered results £600K revenue ahead of budget despite a major energy
market downturn.
• Selected and appointed an Ethiopian architect and site engineering team for the construction of an
Ethiopian National Oil Data Repository
Administrative and Operational
• Project managed a major European contract move involving physical data storage and services
• Specifying, sourcing and reviewing warehouses in Aberdeen, London and the Netherlands
• Specifying and obtaining quotes for racking and fire suppression systems, materials handling
equipment, scanning, electrical, heating, IT, security, office accommodation, fire detection and other
warehouse refurbishments
• Project managed the selection and global implementation of an “off-the-shelf” warehouse management
system [WMS]
• Fast tracked a pilot and first implementation of a WMS with API links to a bespoke metadata
management system [Plexus].
• Liaised with the Netherlands, US and Canada to migrate from legacy systems to new WMS systems
• Managed customer oilfield asset transfers of associated physical data involving file “pick and scan”
projects
• Facilities management of the DTI North Sea geological repository in Edinburgh for over 11 years after
winning initial tender.
• Successfully relocated geological data from client stores to become the core storage contractor with
80% of all UK offshore geological data
• Managed the tendering and installation of the geological, IT tape transcription/scanning, conference
data viewing, training suites and ministerial offices.

2. • Managed the physical and database transfer of 1.6M coded geotechnical assets, importing all metadata
from over 20 different databases to one bespoke system [Traxx].
Strategic and Developmental
• Identified prospective UK clients and competitors and the market environment in the development of a
£60M Global Energy Division and business plan from the legacy IM and HIMS Energy businesses.
• Compiled marketing material, proposals project plans and tenders and also negotiating closure
• Compiled campaigns for increasing service income
• Scoped and implemented major projects in the UK and abroad, carrying out customer liaison and
specifying data management systems, storage requirements and related facilities and activities
• Developed new value-adding services such as “scan on demand”, geological core photography and the
re-organisation of core storage.

• Created new value-adding services such as core photography, scan on demand, file on demand,
metadata and data review, physical data review and moves, decommissioning projects and people

• Determined UK perspective in the evolution of the Global Energy Division strategic services portfolio.

• Designed and implemented an initial audit of the Ethiopian Ministry of Mines current situation.
