My First Day in the Business World is a student's account of shadowing his father Pravin Desai, who owns and runs the Hampton Inn franchise in Allentown, PA. The student followed his father around, asking questions and learning that his father oversees ordering supplies, making renovations, meeting with other business owners, and filling in for employees. He also talked to employees about their various jobs and career paths, made up hotel rooms, and worked the front desk. Through the experience, the student learned about the importance of understanding each employee's role for his father's management, and gained exposure to the different jobs and education required within the hotel industry.
