Injection molding organizations determine their charges based on an hourly rate for equipment plus the cost of raw plastic per unit. The type of plastic used must be specified since not all plastics can be molded using the same metals in the molds. Injection molding is a good method for mass producing uniform plastic parts at a low per-unit cost, but the initial costs of molds, setup, and tooling are substantial. Some advantages of injection molding include high production volumes, tight tolerances, versatility in materials used, and low labor costs. Product designers should consider factors like shrinkage, draft angles, stresses, resin additives, and more when designing parts for injection molding. Custom plastic molds used in

Physical Adhesive Patch for Wound ProtectionHo Jae Cheang
This document discusses the development of an alternative to traditional adhesive bandages that uses micro-needle anchors instead of adhesive to hold wounds closed. It aims to avoid skin irritation caused by adhesives while providing better tension retention over time. The prototype uses a polystyrene patch with pencil-shaped micro-needle anchors oriented in squares that are hot pressed into the material. Further developments aim to reduce thickness, explore more polymers, increase coverage area, and add wound healing properties. Potential applications include both external and internal use, on various tissues. The goal is to create a customizable bandage alternative that can better aid wound healing.

Sintagg sintered fly ash lightweight aggregates are made from the sintering process of fly ash as per IS CODE 9142 PART 2. Sintagg is formed into small round pellets, which are then processed to creates a very hard aggregate with a honeycombed internal spongy structure. These hard pellets can then be used as a superior, consistent, lightweight aggregate which is up to 50% lighter than natural aggregate.

The Pneumatics is study of mechanical motion caused by pressurized gases and how this motion can be used to perform engineering tasks.
Pneumatic systems operate on a supply of compressed air which must be available in sufficient quantity and the air used in pneumatic devices is dried and free from moisture so that it does not create any problem to the internal parts of the system and avoid corrosive actions too.
The compressed air is delivered by the compressor which is a machine that takes in air or gas at a certain pressure and delivered the air at a high pressure.
This machine is pneumatic powered machine and electrical energy is used to operate which has low co-efficient of friction and air.
This machine is designed in solid-works software (module 2017).
LOCTITE® 5188TM is a one-part, acrylic-based anaerobic sealant that cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces. It is designed for sealing rigid metal flanged connections, especially those exposed to minor oil contamination. It cures quickly and develops handling strength within 30 minutes, with full strength achieved after 72 hours. The sealant remains flexible even after exposure to high temperatures and has good adhesion to metals like steel and aluminum. It can seal gaps up to 0.25mm and resist pressures immediately after application while uncured.

AWS Schäfer has over 50 years of experience manufacturing pipe forming machines. Their induction bending machines can bend pipe with radii from 1.5 times the pipe diameter to 40 diameters, and can preserve straight sections before, after, and between bends. This results in high quality bends with minimal wall thinning and fewer welds. Their hydroforming machines can produce tees from pipe with diameters from 57mm to 1020mm out of various steel grades. Cladding machines can apply a corrosion-resistant inner layer to carbon steel pipe for uses like oil and gas drilling where corrosion is a concern. This extends the lifetime of pipes 10 times compared to carbon steel.

Hydroforming is a manufacturing process where high-pressure fluid is used to form sheet metal or tubing into complex shapes. There are two main types - tube hydroforming, where fluid is introduced into tube ends to reshape the tube inside dies, and sheet hydroforming, where sheet metal is forced into a die cavity by fluid pressure or a punch. Hydroforming provides benefits like increased strength, reduced weight and production costs, and tight tolerances. It is commonly used to form automotive components and other parts that require complex geometries.

The question about what is one trying to accomplish when
using an adhesive is not new. Man has used adhesives
or glues since the dawn of history. The ancient Egyptians
attached veneers to furniture with glue. These early glues
were all natural substances. Nowadays synthetic resins and
polymers are being used.
When components are bonded together, the adhesive first
thoroughly wets the surfaces to be bonded together filling
the gap in between and then starts to polymerize. When
hardening is complete, the bond can withstand the stresses
of use. High performance adhesives harden through chemical
reaction and have a strong affinity to joint surfaces. Adhesive
bonding is sometimes called chemical joining to differentiate it
from mechanical joining.

This document summarizes the design of a personal submarine cockpit window and frame. A team of 5 students were assigned to design a window to withstand pressures down to 3000 feet underwater. The window material was selected as poly(methyl methacrylate) due to its strength and transparency. Stainless steel was chosen for the frame and bolts due to its strength and corrosion resistance. Finite element analysis was used to analyze stresses on the components. The final design was within safety standards to allow observation at depths of 3000 feet while withstanding pressures of 9.22 MPa.
Modeling and Machining of Sheet Metal Dies and Inspection Fixtures.IRJET Journal
This document discusses finite element analysis of sheet metal extrusion processes using non-linear converging die profiles. It presents the design of cosine die profiles for square-to-square extrusions with 30%, 60%, and 90% reductions. Finite element modeling was performed using DEFORM-3D software to analyze stresses, strains, velocities and temperatures during extrusion of aluminum 6062. The results show that extrusion load and pressure increase with higher reductions and are higher for aluminum than tellurium lead under the same conditions. A mathematically defined cosine function can be used to develop die profiles and achieve more gradual material flow during high reduction extrusions.

Investigation of PolyMethyl Methacrylate for Speedometer ApplicationIRJET Journal
This document summarizes an investigation into using PolyMethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) for a two-wheeler speedometer lens application. Mold flow analysis was conducted to establish molding parameters and identify any defects. Structural analysis under tightening torque loading conditions found stresses and deformations to be within acceptable limits. Modal and harmonic response analysis within the frequency range of interest also showed no adverse effects. PMMA was determined to be a suitable material for the speedometer lens based on its optical clarity, durability, and ability to withstand mechanical loads and vibration as demonstrated through computational analysis.

Reliability of seal
4. STRATEGY
First a material for the seal was selected taking in
account the technical requirements
Define the minimum pressure needed to avoid
leakage.
Product scope:
Reliable (35%): maintain the minimum pressure to avoid
leakage and resist dynamic loads
Quick release and simplicity (30%)
Low cost (20%)
Maintenance (15%)
5. SEAL SELECTION
It was found in
literature that a rubber
is commonly used in
water sealing, because
of the low price and
deformation properties.
Furthermore EPDM is
material that gives very
good price-reliability
balance

6. MINIMUM PRESSURE
Literature suggest a
50% of strain
compression for a
reliable seal and
Stress-Strain curve
gives the necessary
pressure to maintain (≈
6 MPa). In this case it
is needed extra tools to
assemble.

8. MAIN ASPECTS
Reliability:
High strength material was selected since high forces
were needed to maintain the pressure of the seal.
Sharp angles minimized to avoid fatigue failure, due to
cyclic loads.
Simulations were performed to check all load scenarios.
Quick release and Simplicity
The final product is very easy to assemble and there is
no need to use complicated tools.
It is not necessary to use other tools rather than a
wrench to adjust the seal pressure.
9. MAIN ASPECTS
Low Cost:
Reduced number of pieces, which are easy to
manufacture using machining or stamping processes.
An AISI 1020 can be used, which is a cheap material.
No esthetic design to minimize the manufacturing
process.
Maintenance
A paint or coating must be applied to the metal surface
to avoid corrosion or oxidation of the surface. This paint
must the applied with frequency depending of the water
exposure.
