Google Fuchsia is a new operating system developed by Google in 2016 as a combination of Android and Chrome OS. It is not based on Linux but uses a new kernel called Magenta. Fuchsia supports tablets, smartphones, and computers. Currently Fuchsia offers either a mobile-centric or traditional desktop experience layout. Apps are created using Google's Flutter SDK to theoretically work on both Android and iOS. Features include a vertically scrollable home screen list, split screen functionality, a dark theme keyboard, and integration of Google Now. However, Google's long term plans for Fuchsia and whether it will replace Android remain unclear as it is still in early development stages.
