The document discusses 1 John 5:1-3 and other passages about loving God and keeping his commandments. It summarizes that whoever believes Jesus is the Messiah is born of God and part of his family. Loving God means loving his children as well. Keeping God's commandments is evidence of loving him and his children, and his commandments are not burdensome but rather a blessing. The two greatest commandments are to love God with all your being and love your neighbor as yourself.
The document summarizes key passages from Romans 8 about certainty for Christians. It makes 3 main points:
1) Romans 8 begins with no condemnation for Christians and ends with no separation from God's love. Christians are safe, secure, and cannot be separated from God.
2) There is a struggle between the flesh and Spirit, but Christians have the Holy Spirit living within them and are no longer restricted by the flesh.
3) As children of God, Christians can be certain of the Holy Spirit's presence, guidance, intercession, and God's assurance. Nothing can separate Christians from God's love. The chapter promises no worries, no doubts, no charges against Christians, and no separation from God.
Love is defined as affection and goodwill. God is love, and he wants believers to walk in love with others through patience, kindness, humility and service. Love believes the best in others, protects them, and hopes for godly outcomes. It is the highest calling for Christians.
The document discusses how loss and grief can make it feel like life will never be good again. It summarizes Romans 8:28, which says that God works all things for good for those who love him. While loss is painful, God understands our struggles and still has plans for us even when we are suffering and cannot see how the future could be bright. We should take time to grieve but not lose sight of the fact that God sees beyond our pain and is working on a plan for our lives.
Worry Stress & Anxiety... What the Bible says about itSwordSharp Studios
The document discusses how to avoid worry, stress, and anxiety by seeking God first through prayer, reading scripture, pursuing righteousness, and trusting that God will provide for all needs. It explains that Jesus told his followers not to worry about basic necessities like food and clothing but to make God and his kingdom their top priority. When facing difficulties, believers are instructed to pray, read the Bible, do God's will, and have faith in his provision rather than prioritizing their problems.

James 1:19-27 discusses true religion and being doers of the word. It emphasizes being quick to listen and slow to speak or get angry. Anger does not accomplish God's righteousness. True religion involves caring for widows and orphans and avoiding corruption from the world. Those who think they are religious but do not control their tongues are self-deceived, as their religion is shown to be worthless by their actions not matching their words.
The document provides the times of services on Sundays and Wednesdays at the Haynes Street church of Christ, including Bible classes at 9:30AM and 10:30AM on Sundays and 7PM on Wednesdays. It then summarizes the key lessons and teachings from each chapter of the book of James, with a focus on James 5, and concludes with detailing the plan of salvation.
The document discusses the Lutheran view of grace and faith. It argues that all people are sinners by nature and incapable of saving themselves or doing good works to earn salvation. It states that people deserve God's punishment and eternal damnation for their sins. However, God sent his son Jesus to pay the price for sins and offers salvation as a free gift of grace received through faith, not works, so that all may be saved.

Repentance is the first step in beginning a walk with God and is vital to maintaining that relationship. Repentance involves acknowledging one's sins and faults, resolving not to repeat offenses, and attempting to live according to God's teachings. It requires admitting guilt, making amends, and living a life that pleases God. While humans often justify sins based on circumstances, the Bible teaches that God does not condone sin in any form. 1. God's goodness is the standard by which all else is judged as good or not. Anything not sourced in God's nature and activity cannot truly be called good.
2. God's goodness is expressed through his attributes like patience, grace, mercy and faithfulness. He provides for humanity's physical and spiritual needs.
3. God demonstrates his goodness through earthly provision of resources, showing benevolence to all, and special provision and blessings for his people who live with gratitude.

It provides characteristics of Christian love from 1 Corinthians 13, such as being patient, kind, and not seeking its own interests.
This document outlines a 10 week challenge to pray daily and monitor one's heart. It encourages praying for wisdom and revelation to know God better. Participants are asked to pray for their hearts to be enlightened and transformed into Christ's heart. They should monitor what comes out of their mouths, expose impurities to God, and develop a plan to eliminate sources of impurity. The challenge also involves monitoring one's heart attitude to see how merciful they are, based on a lesson about being blessed when showing mercy as God has shown mercy to us.
God Loves You more than anything you can imagineGail DeHart
This document discusses how much God loves each person. It says God loves unconditionally and wants the best for everyone. It lists seven ways God loves: with an atoning love through Jesus' sacrifice; a calling love by bringing people out of darkness; a redeeming love by freeing people from sin's curse; a justifying love by seeing people as righteous through Jesus; an adopting love by making people God's children; a sanctifying love by setting people apart for God; and a glorifying love by completing the good work started in people. The document encourages reading these Bible verses about God's love and internalizing how much God loves unconditionally. It says experiencing this love can prevent falling and help find solutions when facing problems
Problems are a normal part of life for Christians and God uses them to draw people closer to him. Problems force dependence on God rather than oneself and every problem is an opportunity to build spiritual character. While problems are difficult, God's plan is ultimately for good and to prosper believers, not harm them.
This document discusses the concept of patience through multiple definitions and biblical references. It defines patience as steadfast obedience to God under adversity or tribulation. It explains that patience involves long-suffering, endurance, and persevering through hardships without complaint. Suffering and trials are necessary to develop patience and lead one to perfection. While suffering is common to all people, having patience during suffering leads to spiritual benefits and rewards.
This document discusses finding peace of mind through trusting in God. It explains that true peace comes from having peace with God through Jesus, and experiencing the fruit of the Holy Spirit like love, joy and peace. When we focus our minds on God rather than our problems, and recognize that God works all things for good, it yields a peaceful mind and heart. The document encourages bringing requests to God in prayer with thanksgiving, and trusting that God will meet our needs, in order to experience the peace that transcends understanding.

It includes upcoming event dates, requests for volunteers, and Bible passage discussions focused on God's patience and will for believers to pursue repentance, sanctification, and good works. Participants were asked to reflect on how their purposes align with God's and evidence of spiritual growth in their own lives.

SERVANTHOOD, PRACTICING love DAILY TO MAKE IT EVIDENT TO ALLJoelalisen
This document discusses the importance of having a servant's heart. It defines what it means to have a servant's heart in three ways: 1) Initiating service to others and seeing their needs, 2) Having confidence to serve without expectation of reward, 3) Serving out of love rather than duty or compliance. The key message is that true servanthood is motivated by love for others rather than self-interest or personal gain. Jesus is held up as the ultimate example of a servant who washed his disciples' feet out of love.
This document discusses what makes a great mother. It argues that a mother's willingness to suffer and her patience are key attributes. A mother is willing to suffer through childbirth, childcare, feeding the family, watching over the home, and taking care of responsibilities like school, work and marriage. She also displays great patience, working diligently until midnight to take care of tasks. The patience of a mother reflects the great patience of Jesus. The document also emphasizes a mother's amazing love, which is described as a blessing from God that is more valuable than precious jewels. People without a mother's love are unfortunate. A mother performs her role with pure heart and complete devotion.
The document provides guidance on how to make godly decisions. It recommends:
1. Consulting what the Bible says
2. Considering whether the decision will please God or man
3. Thinking about whether the decision could cause others to stumble
4. Evaluating potential consequences
5. Reflecting on how God may be glorified
The overall message is that Christians should use their love for God as a guide for decision-making.
Perfect Dedication May 6 2022 - Copy.pptxJoelalisen
This document discusses dedicating one's life to God. It notes that Romans 12:1-2 urges believers to offer their bodies as living sacrifices to God, which is their true worship. It states that when you dedicate your life to God, you should: 1) Offer your bodies, 2) as living sacrifices, 3) that are holy and pleasing to God. Dedicating your life to God results in transformation as your mind is renewed, and you will benefit from the dedication by experiencing God's goodness, pleasure, and perfect will.
The document discusses what is required to enter heaven. It says that it is difficult for rich people to enter heaven and easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. While this seems impossible, Jesus says with God all things are possible. One must strive to enter the narrow gate, as many will seek to enter but not be able. Simply saying "Lord, Lord" is not enough; one must do the will of the Father. The key messages are to trust in Jesus over wealth, enter the narrow path, and do God's will to walk straight to heaven.
The document discusses spiritual maturity and how it develops. It states that spiritual maturity starts at home through helping with chores, respecting parents, managing family resources honestly, and caring for family. Spiritual maturity should also be displayed in society through obeying laws and benefiting community, and at work by being responsible. In personal life, it involves making wise decisions, persevering through challenges, dealing with negative people, commitment, and service. True spiritual maturity comes from humbly surrendering to God and learning from mistakes as one grows in faith.
The document contains several Bible verses that discuss remaining faithful during times of suffering and persecution. Revelation 2:10 encourages the reader to remain faithful even during imprisonment or trials, and that they will receive eternal life as a reward. Luke 21:19 and Isaiah 41:10 both convey messages of not fearing hardship and to stand firm in faith, with the promise that God will help and be with believers. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 provides advice to wealthy Christians to not rely on wealth which is uncertain, but to put their hope in God and use their resources to do good deeds and generously help others.

Luke 21:19 echoes this message of standing firm through difficulties. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 advises the wealthy not to rely on wealth, but to rely on God and use their resources to do good deeds and help others, in order to store up treasure in heaven. Isaiah 41:10 promises that God will be with His people, strengthen them, help them, and hold on to them with His righteous right hand, so they do not need to fear.
The document discusses dedicating one's life to God. It notes that Romans 12:1-2 urges believers to offer their bodies as living sacrifices to God. When dedicating one's life to God, one should (1) offer their bodies, (2) as living sacrifices that are (3) holy and pleasing to God. By doing so, believers are transformed as their minds are renewed and able to understand God's will. Dedicating one's life to God results in benefits, both on earth and eternally with God.
The document discusses what is required to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It references several Bible passages that indicate it is difficult for rich people to enter Heaven and that one must strive to enter through the narrow gate. It emphasizes doing the will of God the Father in order to gain entrance into Heaven and encourages believers to follow God's example and leave a legacy of faithfulness for those who come after. The overarching message is that entering Heaven requires trusting in Jesus rather than earthly riches, making great effort to live righteously, and obeying the will of God.
Araunah offered David oxen, threshing sledges, and ox yokes to use for sacrifices to God. However, David refused to make a sacrifice to God that did not cost him anything, insisting on paying Araunah for the items. David said "I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing."
This document provides 10 guidelines for living one's life according to God's will. It instructs the reader to quit worrying and put their burdens on God's list instead of their own, to trust that God will take care of their needs and problems, and to leave problems with God instead of trying to handle them alone. It encourages talking to God often, having faith in God's plan and timing, sharing with others, being patient, kind, and loving oneself as God loves the reader.
The document discusses how different Christian denominations and groups might interpret and respond to the phrase "the cat sat on the mat" if it appeared in the Bible. It describes how liberals would interpret it non-literally, evangelicals would insist on a literal reading, Catholics would develop a festival celebrating the event, and the Church of England would issue a lengthy statement analyzing the phrase's meaning after much debate. It then suggests God created a customer satisfaction survey to improve divine services, including questions about sources of inspiration, levels of disasters and miracles, and space for comments.
The document discusses Bible passages about failure, strength, and perseverance. It provides verses that say all people will experience failure and temptation but God will provide a way to endure it. Other passages say that through God's faithfulness and mercy, we will not be overcome by hardships even when our flesh and heart fail. God will do new things and make a way where there seems to be no way. Though the vision may take time, it will surely come to pass if we wait patiently for it. In challenges, believers are pressed but not crushed and though persecuted, they will not be abandoned or destroyed.
A mother stays awake for three days caring for her sick child. When she dozes off briefly, Death comes and takes the child. The mother searches through a forest and crosses a lake, sacrificing her eyesight, to find Death and beg for her child back. Death shows her visions of possible futures for the child, one happy and one miserable. The mother chooses for Death to take the child to the unknown rather than risk suffering.
The document provides three thoughts of comfort from John 14:1-6 for those grieving the loss of a loved one:
1) Peace is promised through believing in God and Jesus, even in times of sadness and grief.
2) God has prepared a place, specifically a room, for us in his Father's house, as Jesus has been preparing it for over two thousand years.
3) God has also prepared the way for us to get to heaven, which is through believing in Jesus as the truth, life, and way to the Father.
Moses struck the rock twice to bring water out of it for the Israelites, despite God instructing him to only speak to the rock. This showed Moses' lack of trust in God and acting in anger and weakness rather than obedience. Similarly, people often act out of weakness or doubt rather than fully obeying God, missing opportunities for God to reveal himself and his son through them. While God will still provide and meet needs, obeying exactly what he says allows him to paint the best picture and bring the deepest rest and fulfillment.

GOOD OR BAD IS GOOD WHEN WE ARE SERVING THE LORD
1.
2. Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been
called according to his purpose.
3.
4.
5. Think for a moment
about the challenges
you’ve faced, the trials
that have tested your
faith, and the moments
when you felt
overwhelmed by life’s
circumstances. During
these struggles,
6. …have you ever
wondered if there is
any purpose or
meaning behind
them? Are they just
random events, or is
there something
greater at work?
7. Romans 8:28
1. God is in control, even when life seems
chaotic.
2. All things work together for good, even
during our trials.
3. Understand the significance of loving God
and how it positions us to experience the
fulfillment of this promise.
8. #1 God is in control, even when
life seems chaotic.
9. Life is filled with challenges and
uncertainties. We encounter
unexpected setbacks,
disappointments, and trials that can
shake our faith and leave us
questioning God’s plan
10. In such moments, it’s crucial to
remember that we are not alone in our
struggles. We serve a God who is
aware of every circumstance we face,
and He remains in control, even when
our circumstances seem overwhelming.
14. It’s comforting to know that regardless
of what we face—financial difficulties,
health issues, broken relationships, or
any other trial—God is still in
control. He sees the bigger picture,
and His purposes extend far beyond
our immediate circumstances.
15. Examples of God’s faithfulness in turning difficult
situations for good;
1. Joseph, who experienced betrayal by his brothers,
was sold into slavery, and endured years of
imprisonment. Yet, in the end, God used Joseph’s
trials to position him as a key leader who saved
family and the nation of Egypt from famine.
16. Examples of God’s faithfulness in turning
difficult situations for good;
2. Job, who suffered great loss and adversity
but ultimately witnessed the restoration of all
he had lost.
