My name isDonal Barber and I am a British/Australian livingandworkinginthe Middle East.Ihave been
inthe Middle East for approximately fiveyears workinginbothQatar andthe United ArabEmirates.For
the last three andhalf years I have been employedby the AbuDhabi Men’sCollege,teachingattheir
General Civil AviationAuthority approvedPart147 AviationDepartmentdeliveringGCAA/EASA B1,B2
(module 13) leaningOutcomes.
The HCT aviationdepartmenthas approximately 300 studentsenrolled inaviationdegreeprogramand
licensed aircraftengineeringprogramscoveringbothB1and B2 students.The majorityof the students
at the college are alreadyemployedbylocal internationalairlines givingthe college instructorsaccessto
large aircraft maintenance facilities. The requiredGCAA leaningoutcomesare achievedthough
classroomtrainingandsettingpractical exercisesforthe aviationstudents whoworkwithinthe scope of
the college aviationdepartmentandaviationhangarfacilities.
In the past 18 months,andin myowntime I have completeda(Australianaccredited) MBA. ThisMBA
possessmodulesthatline-uptosome aviationdegreemodulessuchasSMS, QMS HF. RecentlyIhave
developedandteachadvancedhumanfactorsto the aviationengineeringstudent enrolled inthe HCT
degree program.
Havingoweda successful small businessinthe pastwhere Ideveloped the typical small businessskills,
understandingcustomerrequirementswherenow couple withanMBA has helpedfurthermyteaching
ability.
I am planningtoreturnto my home inBrisbane earlyinDecember.
