Trucks move roughly 70% of our nation’s freight (by weight), effectively moving 10.4 billion tons of freight annually, including 2017. With these numbers, it’s easy to see why our nation is facing a capacity crisis — where the industry has an abundance of loads, but a limited amount of capacity (or trucks) to ship those loads. For example, at the end of 2017, the ratio was seven loads to every one truck, and in early 2018, some reported their highest monthly average in history: nine loads for every truck. In this slideshow, learn more about the trucking capacity crisis and how technology can help fill the gap in the marketplace.
