Children in India go to school using different modes of transportation depending on their location. Some children in snowy areas use sledges, while in southern India's Kerala region children use vallams. In Assam, children walk across bamboo bridges, and in desert areas of Rajasthan they sometimes take bullock carts. Children in cities usually go to school by bus. Regardless of the method, discipline and safety are emphasized as children are taught to walk in lines, hold hands when crossing roads, and follow other precautions.
