The document discusses the concept of God as the ultimate giver. It references several Bible verses that portray God as loving to give good gifts and as being more ready to give than any human parent. Miroslav Volf is quoted comparing God's giving nature to how ducks quack, saying God gives essentially as part of who God is, in the same way ducks quack. The overall message is that because God gave humanity the ultimate gift of Jesus and forgiveness, we should in turn give God's gifts to others in the world.

Matthew 11:25 - 30: The Importance of Personal Discipleship RyanShannon26
In the final verses of chapter 11 Jesus moves from challenging the nation of Israel to repent and seek the kingdom of heaven to presenting himself to each person as the only pathway for salvation. The wise and understanding are so full of their own knowledge and pride that they are not open to truths of who Jesus really is. But those who stand before God with arms wide open display the childlike faith that God desires. And through that humility the truth of who Christ is becomes known to them and God’s gracious will opens their hearts to receive him gladly. This begins the pathway of personal discipleship and an open invitation to come to Jesus and share our yoke with him so we can find rest for our weary souls.

Repentance is necessary for our salvation, but what does it mean? The Parable of the Prodigal Son provides a beautiful picture of repentance demonstrating the necessity of honesty, humility and action.
Happy Mothers day, such an honor that you spending your morning with us today. I pray God has blessed you this year and in years to come. I also pray for those of you who have lost someone and today is a very difficult day. I pray that the God of all compassion speaks to you today and gives you the comfort only his holy spirit can give!
To those who gave birth this year to their first child—we celebrate with you
To those who lost a child this year – we mourn with you
To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains – we appreciate you
To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away—we mourn with you
To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment – we walk with you. Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is.
To those who are foster moms, mentor moms, teacher mom and spiritual moms – we need you
To those who have warm and close relationships with your children – we celebrate with you
To those who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your children – we sit with you
To those who lost their mothers – we grieve with you
To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother – we acknowledge your experience and pain
To those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhood – we are better for having you in our midst
To those who are single and long to be married and mothering your own children – we mourn that life has not turned out the way you longed for it to be
To those who step-parent – we walk with you on these complex paths
To those who envisioned lavishing love on grandchildren -yet that dream is not to be, we grieve with you
To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year – we grieve and rejoice with you
To those who placed children up for adoption — we commend you for your selflessness and remember how you hold that child in your heart
And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising –we anticipate with you
This Mother’s Day, we walk with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. We remember you.
This Mothers we are going to focus, not so much on moms, but on how we are all called to Love like Jesus.
When the Apostle Paul was helping the young church in Thessalonica he compared his work among them to that of a mother caring for her children with love. On Mother’s Day as we consider God’s love, there are similarities between the love of a mother and of God to help us Love like Jesus.
Jeremiah is in prison, in a doomed city besieged by an army, and Jehovah tells him to buy a field. It doesn’t make sense, but Jeremiah obeys. Then asks God why. Jehovah’s answer reveals the reason that Jeremiah (and the people) should have hope. We can learn from this why we too should live as a people of hope.
You will see in this lesson the importance of pausing to carefully consider the kind of love that our Father has demonstrated to us in sending His son so that we can be His children. The parables in Luke 15 help us to understand that although we are lost and dead, He looks for our return and accepts as sons, not servants.

We discover that God is relation. There was love in the God-Head even before Creation. Creation happened because of love. However, we are broken in our capacity to love and be loved. We address several wrong postures that hinder us from experiencing the love of our heavenly Father.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

6. Because God is love,
God loves to give.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every
perfect present comes from heaven; it
comes down from God, the Creator of
the heavenly lights, who does not change

“God is essentially a giver
just as God is love…God is
a giver more the way ducks

way I’m a biker.”
Explain Volf’s comparison.
8. Because God is love,
God loves to give.
Matthew 7:11 As bad as you are, you
still know how to give good gifts to your
children. But your heavenly Father is
even more ready to give good things
to people who ask. (CEV)
9. God, the Prodigal Giver
Luke 15:29 But he spoke back to his
father, ‘Look, all these years I have
worked for you like a slave, and I have
never disobeyed your orders. What have
you given me? Not even a goat for me to
have a feast with my friends! 30 But this
son of yours wasted all your property on
prostitutes, and when he comes back
home, you kill the prize calf for him!’ 31
‘My son,’ the father answered, ‘you are
always here with me, and everything I
have is yours. (GNT)

whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
