In 1974, a student discovered a natural cave in Gua Maria. Efforts were made to develop the cave as a place of pilgrimage. Local stories said some princes were imprisoned in the cave seeking knowledge. It was seen as a haunted place. Over time, as the beauty of the cave was recognized, it became a place for prayer. In the Catholic tradition, Gua Maria became a pilgrimage site focused on devotion to Mary, with a statue of Mary located in the original natural cave. The site now serves as a place for Catholics to pray and get closer to God through the intercession of Mary and Jesus Christ.
