Product Overview
www.goldmedalsafetypadding.co.uk2
THE GOLD MEDAL SAFETY PRODUCT
Gold Medal Safety Padding is specifically designed for seclusion rooms in hospitals, psy-
chiatric facilities and prisons where violent behaviour may result in injury to the patient,
staff or damage to the room. Gold Medal Safety Padding founded in the USA, is a brand
name trusted throughout the commercial world for 40 years.
Gold Medal, once installed, provides a bright, calming and pleasant environment for the
user and allows the staff of the site to safely monitor the condition of the individual in the
facility.
The Product
Gold Medal Safety Padding when completed, is uniform and smooth, with no cracks or
open seams, unlike competing products. It is also highly resilient, as it withstands attempts
to rip, gouge or otherwise damage.
Wall & Floor Panels
The wall panels incorporate two sections with the bottom layer allowing compression and
the top layer protecting against serious damage. The floor panels have a slightly denser
composition, to accommodate wear from foot-fall traffic.
Fire Safety
Gold Medal is completely self-extinguishing and fire resistant. The product has undergone
extensive fire testing at the Warrington Fire Research Centre (UK), please contact us
directly for the full report.

CASE STUDY
WATERFORD REGIONAL HOSPITAL, IRELAND.
Seclusion Room Padding in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units
(PICU)
We have recently completed a Gold Medal Safety Padding seclusion room for a hospital’s
Psychiatric Intensive Care Ward / Unit (PICU) in the south of Ireland. Gold Medal affords
the highest level of protection for special needs patients & the staff, and has done so for 40
years.
This Gold Medal Safety Padding Installation
For this particular installation, the walls, floor, door and even the bed were taken into
account. One of the clients major concerns was that a standard seclusion room mattress
could be used as a barricade. We clad the bed in Gold Medal Safety Padding which
ensured the bed became an integral part of the room. The installation required eight days
on site.
Psychiatric Intensive Care Ward requirements.
This hospitals PICU required a seclusion room which gave:
1. Maximum safety
2. Long lasting durability
3. A calming environment
4. Hygienic material properties

CARE OF GOLD MEDAL SAFETY PADDING
Whenever a room has been used a visual check must be carried out.
Gold Medal Safety Padding can be:

Anti-bacterial wipes are a suitable way of cleaning the room frequently without the
requirement of introducing water. If the floor of the room has a drain fitted, ensure that
the drain is clear. Standing water must be dried off using a dry mop after cleaning. Never
allow water to stand on the product.
INSPECTIONS
We recommend that each room has an annual inspection by GMSP to ensure all seams
and finishes are in order.
Should you experience any difficulties please do not hesitate to contact our offices.
