Globalization refers to the increasing economic, financial, trade, and communications integration between countries worldwide, while colonization is the extension of political and economic control over an area by a state whose nationals have occupied it. While globalization involves the voluntary integration and sharing of policies between countries through negotiation, colonization entails one country forcibly obtaining power and control over another without negotiation. Some argue that globalization could be seen as a new form of colonization in the modern era.
