Colonization involves the political and economic control of an area by a nation that occupies it, while globalization refers to integration and interaction between people internationally through trade and investment. Both colonization and globalization involve populating an area and exerting some economic control, and generally involve interaction with local people, though colonization establishes settler colonies and control over a region, while globalization focuses more on international trade and investment without direct political rule.
