LSU will host the Global Game Jam from January 23-25, an international video game design competition held at 488 locations in 72 countries. Amateurs and professionals will gather at LSU's Digital Media Center to form teams and spend 48 hours designing and developing original video games based on a secret theme. Registration is open until January 22nd for $25 and includes meals. On Friday, game developers will speak and the theme will be announced. Teams will then develop game ideas to submit by Sunday at 2pm, when the public can view the new games and awards will be given at 4:30pm. Volunteers are also needed and will receive free registration for 5+ hours of help.
